Hotel Paolo II 3 stars

Rome City Centre, Rome

Hosted in a building from the early 1900s, Hotel Paolo II offers accommodation in a quiet courtyard in Rome, a 15-minute walk from the Vatican Museums. The hotel is 1.6 km from Ottaviano Metro... The front door is not obvious but once inside it is such a interesting building structure. Really enjoyed the stay

Domus Helena

Esquilino, Rome

Set 200 metres from Vittorio Emanuele Metro, Domus Helena offers a shared terrace and modern furnished rooms with free WiFi. The Colosseum is 10 minutes' walk from this property, run by nuns. So I chose this property basically due to the reviews that I've read here, but I'd also chime in anyways. The room is very clean, minimalist yet everything that you need is there: there's a towel, hairdryer, a decent-sized cabinet/wardrobe, and sufficient shelving for storing your stuff. Rooms at the 4th and 5th floor have access to the balcony which gives you views of the nearby streets. It's a few minutes' walk to the nearest metro station where you can ride a train going to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican, and many others. It's walking distance to the Colosseum. Great location overall - a lot of shops nearby, too. You have to leave your key with them whenever you leave, but no worries - there's someone in the front desk 24/7. Staff are pretty friendly, too. And oh, the breakfast buffet will surely fill you up!

Albergo Etico Roma 3 stars

Villa Borghese Parioli, Rome

Located in Rome, 600 metres from Piazza del Popolo, ethical and no-profit hotel Albergo Etico Roma provides air-conditioned accommodation with free WiFi. It was exactly what we wanted, a simple but very clean and comfortable hotel. We were there to see Rome not spend time in our hotel so the lack of a pool, gym, even food service (work is still being done to complete the hotel) was completely unimportant. Everything that the hotel did, it did very well. Comfortable, welcoming and large bedroom, spotlessly clean and modern bathroom, great location and very friendly and helpful staff.

L'Oasi al Pigneto - Guest house

Prenestino Labicano, Rome

L'Oasi al Pigneto - Guest house features air-conditioned rooms with cable flat-screen TV in the Prenestino Labicano district of Rome. We stayed in Twin Room with Private Bathroom for six days. Cosy, spacious rooms and crystal clear room is awaiting you. Towels and sheets were changed once during our stay and room can be cleaned every day if you wish. Pigneto is a remote but quiet neighbourhood. You need to make two metro transfers to get to Colosseum and nearby attractions. It nearly takes 30 minutes to go to main attractions in Rome. There are two supermarkets within 200 m diameter which is very adequate. Thanks for Serena for her hospitality.
