Casa Azul Hostel

Sintra

Boasting a terrace, Casa Azul Hostel offers accommodation in Sintra, 1.9 km from Quinta da Regaleira and 1.9 km from Sintra National Palace. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The hostel has family rooms. I have been travelling for more than 11 years and this hostel is the best hostel I have stayed in so far. Antonio, the host, is a real nice man, always keeping the place clean, laid back bohemian style kind of attitude and there is a real good vibe in the place. I checked in for one night and now I have stayed here almost a month. I think that speaks for it self. If you go to Cintra this should be your first choice of stay, and see for your self.

Portuguese Hostel

Sintra City Center, Sintra

Portuguese Hostel is located in the centre of Sintra, 300 metres from the train station. Offering a value for money accommodation, this hostel has free WiFi.

Featuring access to shared bathrooms, Portuguese Hostel is split between two buildings in the same street and offers accommodation in twin rooms, double rooms or mixed dormitories. A shared lounge with flat-screen TV, sofas and dining area is available. It was one of the best hostels I have been in Portugal. Quiet, super clean, with all the facilities at the kitchen and nice common areas. The rooms were also quite big so even in a shares room you feel.you have your privacy. A little light near your bed. The breakfast was also really good, with tasty bread. And the staff was extremely helpful and kind! Location is good: nearby the train a station and a short and pleasant walk to the city center. Thanks for everything, I wish I could have stayed there for one more night!

Nice Way Sintra Hostel

Sintra City Center, Sintra

This small, unique hostel in a quiet, green area of Sintra features budget rooms with individual décor, free WiFi and a large garden. It is located about 300 metres from Sintra National Palace.

Nice Way Sintra Palace offers various types of shared accomodation, and a separate, renovated 1960's building block, with personalized private rooms. Individual safes can be found in each room. Honestly this was one of the best accomodations in which we stayed during our trip in Portugal. We were group of five friends and we get a spacious room with a stunning view of Palacio da Pena, Castelo dos Mouros and the far ocean aswell. Everything was clean (bathroom, kitchen, etc.) and the beds were comfy. We really appreciated the bar in the hostels yard with relaxed atmosphere. The hostel is also a perfect start point for the trail to the Palacio da Pena (approx. 1 hour to the entrance).

Hostels. What are they?

Way more than just a cheap place to sleep, hostels are a social way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens or games rooms are great ways to swap tips, tricks and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long, long way since the first youth hostel opened in 1912. From budget 'crash-pads' to five-star 'poshtels', today, hostels are for everybody, so whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll find most hostels are cheaper than a local hotel and far more fun.
