This gives you the best sense of Ancient European Architecture. To enjoy fully please allocate one whole day for the place. I enjoyed the Beer Museum just in the corner of Grand Palace. You must carry a good camera as you may capture a large number of photos. If you are travelling alone, make sure you carry a selfie-stick
If you want to blend in - I can tell you this. People just sit at the Grand Place, there are loads of people sitting on the floor alone and in groups. So, you can do the same, if you want a local experience. :)
What an overpriced hotel. Selling themselves largely on proximity to the 'grand place' it's worth noting that this hotel is on a rather dodgy and at the other end, pretty touristy road. It's worth staying a little further out to get a better quality hotel and miss the tourist trap. Given a lot of their star rating must come from their hamam spa, the fact it has been closed for sometime now is extremely disappointing. The room was boiling, the sheets were itchy and when you open the window, you get an onslaught of noise. Just not the star rating they advertise in terms of service or standards. The free afternoon buffet is good if you aren't making the most of your trip outside of the hotel.
Expect a crowd and pickpockets! But it's a breathtaking square and it's definitely worth a visit (or more). There are guided tours of the beautiful Town Hall in English(!) every Wed at 2pm and every Sun at 10am, 3pm and 4pm. There are loads of very elegant and expensive chocolate shops around - but if you don't want to spend a fortune, you can buy the same kind of chocolate in any supermarket! The package is not that nice but it's still the same chocolate!
If you want to see a solid proof of one of the cruelest types of colonialism - you will find it there. The golden ornaments on the square’s buildings screems with the Blood of the countries they “colonised” and whose natural resources they cruelly and criminally took and brought back to overdecorate their cities.
A must see! One of the best squares I've seen in Europe, we visited on National Belgian day so was extremely busy but well worthwhile, lovely to see thousands of people enjoying themselves with absolutely no sign of any trouble.
The location is very convenient, very close to the Grand Place and other worth to visit places in the centre of the Brussels. The hotel is very close to the Brussels Central Station what causes it is very easy to get to almost every point in the city including airport. In approximately 20 minutes you are able to get to the airport (by train) without any stress. The stuff was polite and helpful.
This hotel was exactly as the pictures show. Beautiful inside and the staff at the front desk was very very helpful. They are very aware of train and bus system and how to maneuver the city and outside city. Rooms were good size and clean. Location was excellent for Grand Place and restaurants, shops, and city sights. I would stay again if I make it back to Brussels.
The location is super convenient. It takes 3 min walk from the Central Station which connects directly to the airport. It is also very close to the Grand Place which is the starting point of different walking tours in Brussels. The Gallerie where the hotel is in is also a sight-seeing spot in itself, very beautiful.
Really nice hotel in the best possible location in Brussels. The rooms are nice and comfortable and the view over the Grand Place is amazing. The staff both at the hotel and at the breakfast place were also very friendly and helpful, and they served a really good and abundant breakfast. Great discovery!
The apartment is very centrally located, close to Brussels Central Station and also the Grand Place and all the restaurants and sights nearby. The apartment was spacious and well-equipped with two tv's, sitting area, dining area and even a desk. The bedroom had a good size and closet space.
Lovely spacious apartment with a small roof terrace overlooking St Catherines church. About 500 metres from Grand Place in a nice neighborhood with lots of nice restaurants nearby. Parking Garage about 200 metres from the apartment. Quiet location in central Brussels.
The penthouse apartment had a perfect location - just in the center of Brussels. The penthouse was spacious and with nicely furnished rooms. Nice roof top terrace and a view to the tower on Grand Place. Heating problems were addressed very quickly by the host.
The apartment was huge (at least by hotel standards), located literally downtown, near Grand Place! Nice kitchen with all you need. The host was nice enough to leave an extra set of towels for me!
Good restaurants, great architecture in the Grand Place and some 'famous' points of interests like 'the piss', good public transport, hotels are overpriced and almost always booked out because of the many EU offices in the city.
Walking around the city center is easy, start with the Grand Place and from there the Manneken Pis is really close. The surrounding streets are lovely, make sure you discover all of them while you can try many chocolate places and beer bars. If you book a room in the city center you don't even have to spend on public transport too much.
Don't leave without a visit to Grand Place - outstanding architecture on a par with Venice/Barcelona.
There are some great small shops to explore especially around the small streets leading to Grand Place
The markets clustered around grand place are not that great for variety, with the usual sausages and waffle carts
La Grand Place es con diferencia una de las plazas más bonitas que he visitado. Su vista nocturna es espectacular. El Manneken Pis es una estatuilla de lo más carismática
