Situated 200 metres from Barcelona’s Magic Fountain, the elegant Crowne Plaza Barcelona - Fira Center offers spacious rooms with a flat-screen TV and hydromassage shower. So good! It’s 20 minutes walk to Barceloneta etc, but it’s good since the weather is good.
Get here early, at least 1.5 hours before the show start and sit either around the edge of the main fountain or on the first setback of steps behind the fountain otherwise you won’t hear the music. Ignore the men selling cocktails and beers around the crowds, you can buy them cheaper from the vendor carts dotted around the plaza! And you don’t know what’s actually in the cocktails...I wouldn’t risk it.
The best way to organize the trip is to take the Cable Car on the way up to the castle, and walking down. On this walk down you can see the botanic garden, Olympic stadium and Museum and at the end the Magic fountain.
A MUST. Amazing place to spent hours if not days to see everything. What you can find there: The Magic Fountain (choose the right day to see the show!); The (HUGE) Art Museum of Catalunya (MNAC) inside a majestic building; 2 Amazing Gardens; The Castle in the upper part of the park; The ethnological museum; An outdoor museum called "Poble Espanyol"; MIRÒ's Art museum (Fundació Miró); The Catalan Archeologic Museum; the Olimpic Stadium which is very pleasant to be in a good sunny day and perhaps to exercise a bit but actually The entire park is a great place to exercise! You can also take the aerial tramway and have the most amazing view! There's also Palau Sant Jordi where they host big concerts;
One of the highlights of our trip! We walked up until we reached the cable cars and paid 8 Euro for single journey. This gave great views on the way up. We wandered around the castle but didn’t go inside. We walked down which took around 25 mins. A lovely walk away from noise and bustle of the city. On way down we wandering into passing del blai which was packed with bars with cheap tapas - perfect after all the walking!
The Font Magic was definitely worth seeing. The main fountain is illuminated and appears to respond to the music that is played in the background. Arrive early to get a decent spot: on the steps in front of the palace would be a great place to watch from. Check out when it’s on though as it’s only certain days/ times.
We took a taxi there and came back by bus. Wear comfy shoes as a lot of steps and walking.Montjuic was interesting to see, but no area to sit and have a drink. There was one place with drinks in a vending machine, and that was it, so recommend you go there first while you still feel fresh.
