Take you time, go up slowly by the easiest, widest path. Then come back and go up the other two paths, for the view! It's a very short climb manageable with children and dogs and you just need to be careful and wear some wool and comfy shoes (trekking shoes are of course better but not really required)
Excellent hike, don't make the same mistake I did and go the steepest 'red' route unless you're good with heights! Routes from the other end of the climb were much nicer. Amazing views, a definite must see.
Amazing views of the city. It’s worth the hike. We hike up the mountain instead of the stairs and I think that was easier. We went back down the stairs. I had to stop a few times to catch my breath but it was worth it!
Amazing view from the top of Arthurs Seat. Was a challenge to get to the top but well worth it. Would recommend this to anyone but make sure you wear a good pair of shoes as there are some steep bit and some rocky bits.
Don't climb the radical road path. Pay attention to the signs. We missed the shorter route and our hike was difficult. Bring an umbrella, weather can move in quickly. Well worth the climb for views of the city and seeing the landscape.
I did this with my two kids on the day before storm Doris arrived, so to say it was a little breezy would be an understatement. The views from the top were fantastic and it made a great short walk after a morning at Dynamic Earth.
Location was great. Close to all touristic places (castle, new town, arthurs seat etc.) and nice restaurants / bars. Bedroom was small but good for just sleeping. Bathroom was clean with good water pressure.
Very cool staff! Great hostel right on the Royal mile, about 15 minutes or less to Holyrood park with Arthurs seat. Staff were excellent! Thank you for the great stay!
Great location, near transport, the castle, arthurs seat, restaurants and bars and other many attractions. Princess street the royal mile and park.
