Take the Hop-on, Hop-off bus from the Pier or the Lifeboat Museum £10 for 24 hr ticket). Make at least one hop off at the Beachy Head pub and visitor centre from where you can walk to the cliff edge to see the lighthouse. Bus takes you round several other landmarks and eventually back to Eastbourne, with a running commentary
Great circular walk from the end of Eastbourne promenade then up to Beachy Head, toilets and pub, then onto Birling Gap, toilets and Cafe, then to East Dean, great pub the Tiger Inn, then back to Eastbourne. You can also walk the seven sisters from Birling Gap. Big tip....don't be a fool and step over the fences at the cliff top...its eroding badly and not safe, you still get amazing views without going that, but we still saw people do it to take a selfie right on the very edge next to danger signs. Why would you do it? Beggars belief. It is a great walk up there, you need reasonable walking shoes and the weather can change very quickly. Enjoy.
Be very careful approaching the cliff - chalk is an incredibly soft stone and you don't want to fall off. Many people have died here intentionally, and there is a phone booth at the top providing the number of the Samaritans. This is a beautiful place with bittersweet connotations.
There are buses from the promenade to beachy head and the 7 sisters. You can also drive all the way around and there is parking so don't park at the visitors centre if you have mobility issues. Take water as it is very hilly in some places.
if your fit park at the bottom by the cafe at the end of the beach and walk up. if not drive up ! find the 'Dam Busters' memorial , stand there and give a thought, see if the hair on the back of your neck stands up ?
Amazing place to visit plan for a whole day as i didnt and regreted it. You need to walk for about 25-35 minutes from the main road through the farms and greenery wear comforatble shoes and carry some food and dribks as there is no shops to buy anything when you get there. Beautiful scenery by far the most amazing and breathtaking view i have experienced in my life. I would recommend this to anyone of any age. Also no toilets about so it is a nightmare to do your business if need be( good luck with that!)
Hotel excellent location for Pier, the Band Stand, sea and walks along the promenade to enjoy the lovely coastline towards Beachy Head. Bus stops nearby, especially to pick up the Tour Bus which runs frequently. Hotel room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff pleasant & helpful. Lovely old architectural building with a modern interior. Loved the Art paintings & pictures on display. Good breakfast and would only have wished for more choice of fruit.
Lovely breakfast, brilliant location right over a beach, in sight of the pier, bandstand & big wheel. We had a delicious supper at the hotel, very reasonably priced with friendly service. Staff couldn't have been nicer, all really helpful. Very good Covid safety measures. Far superior to any B&B. Great for swimming or strolling along the promenade, or hiking to Beachy Head,
