Went to see the bodyguard and was told we couldn’t sing by management, my wife seen this show in Glasgow and when she told the manager we were allowed to sing there, his answer was this is not Glasgow, is Edinburgh playhouse supposed to be posh, won’t be back ,will stick to Glasgow
What a dump ! If you want to be crammed into a seat that's designed for a small child, sweating like you're in a sauna because the heating is up full blast, designed to dehydrate you so you're forced to purchase drinks that you need a bank loan to afford...... come along to the Edinburgh Playhouse ! I wont be back that's for sure.
Watched Jersey boys which was brilliant but less than half full on a Thursday night - why don’t you give spare seats to schools, university or youth groups either free or cheap to fill your theatre and encourage a new generation of supporters??
The Glasshouse is right next door so access for anyone with mobility issues is great. If you pick a rear circle seat for The Playhouse then you have none or very few steps to access. The Glasshouse was very well laid out for a wheelchair, easy to get from the car park and into and around the hotel and the bedrooms. fabulous staff who are very attentive. perfect set up for a weekend break!
Got tickets for my wife to see Gary Barlow but on the night of the concert it was far too hot inside and for anyone who is, like me, tall(anyone 6 feet or above) and you will find it uncomfortable sitting due to very little leg room.
Actually didn't go to this venue as my sole purpose was to attend the many (from a choice of 3,000 events/shows) attractions put in on at the Edinburgh Fringe, Book, international festivals and the glorious art exhibition of modern reality and at the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art - superb. And the zoo too.
Yes - Festival Theatre and Edinburgh Playhouse are excellent venues and have all of the large west end shows on tour.
