Is beautiful and the animals well taken care of, thought the habitats were small for some animals. Wear walking boots/shoes, as it is all hill. No joke. Prams will be hard to push on some parts and your thighs will feel the burn. Really nice day out though.
Had a great day out with my friend and her 10 month old little boy. The variety of animals available to see was great. The little one LOVED the flamingos and the rhinos. Be prepared for a lot of uphill walking.
Those with walking problems or young children especially in a buggy/pram,if you show your disabled badge if you have one,a taxi will take up ad down to save those legs. Some parts of zoo I could see people struggling to push Prams up and down with difficulty. There is a mini bus every 20 mins or so takes people up to top so you can walk down. Penguin parade 2.15 daily a must see.
Total rip off. More empty sections than full ones. If you like penguins or parrots you will be fine as this is mainly what you will see. If you like loneliness, being skint and empty spaces you will fit right in here as the place meets those 3 categories. Awful place. Should be sued under the Trade Descriptions Act.
WE HAVE BEEN TWICE TO THE ZOO ON BOTH OCCASIONS A LOT OF THE ANIMAL ENCLOSURES WERE CLOSED OR THE ANIMALS WERE NOT ON SHOW FOR VARIOUS REASONS. THE LAST TIME WE HAD TAKEN THE GRAND-CHILDREN AND THIS WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING FOR THEM. AS WE GOT OUR TICKETS ON LINE THE DAY BEFORE WE TRAVELED YOU WOULD THINK THEY COULD GIVE YOU SOME IDEA OF WHAT WAS ON SHOW OR NOT. WE WON'T BE GOING BACK.
If you like Hiking and a game of spot the animals then Edinburgh Zoo is for you. But seriously they need to cleanup the animal runs, mostly overgrown with weeds, the baboons live in a field of nettles, many animals must have been hiding in weedy overgrown areas, we overheard others saying they come regular and never see the Tiger/s? The food concessions are good but expensive. To be fair, if you struggle with walking they do have a shuttle mobility vehicle - but you would need it, wheelchairs would struggle both up and down the Zoo. Was left feeling let down compared to other Zoos/Wildlife parks, maybe the management should visit a few others for ideas. Check out YWP 6/10
Nice room design, big bathroom, comfortable bed, good linen, it was pleasant to have complimentary chocolate bars ). Good hotel location, close to city center (30 min walking) and Edinburgh ZOO (10 min). If you like morning run - in front of hotel there is a big park and nice pedestrian track along a water canal. at at some point due to weather conditions the wifi in our room disappeared, after few attempts to fix it the hotel administration offered us to move into another room, which was really nice and thoughtful. appreciated that!
Very convenient location for a trip to Edinburgh Zoo. Room was lovely and clean and cosy - was surprised to find there was also a mini fridge which was unexpected, and plug sockets next to the beds which never seems to happen in hotels anymore so this was a plus! View from the room was very pretty and it was also nice and quiet so no interrupted sleep, another bonus!
It was absolutely amazing, Edinburgh zoo is just 2 minutes drive which was best.
We spent the day at Edinburgh Zoo and I was really impressed. It had a lot to live up to as we visit Chester Zoo several times a year. Generally, the amount of space for the animals was good. I was particularly impressed with the members of staff who were doing their research with the monkeys. It was the monkeys choice whether it wanted to take part and they weren't forced to. The members of staff that I talked to were very knowledgeable and I learnt a lot whilst there. The penguins enclosure was fantastic and it is the best that I have ever seen. The day that we visited was very rainy but this did not spoil our experience as there were plenty of areas to keep dry. Well worth a visit and I would definitely go again.
