Novotel London Waterloo is located in the heart of London, just a few steps from the banks of the River Thames and a short walk from the Westminster Palace. Excellent location, in walking distance to historic attractions!
This is great we found less crowds in the early evening (which makes for good photos as well). Also it is worth noting it doesn't actually stop for getting on and off, (it doesn't go fast), but handy to know if you are old or have little kids.
Pay extra to avoid the queue. We had bought tix, but didn’t pay to avoid the queue, thinking it wasn’t necessary bc of timed tix. However, just-let-out school kids overwhelmed the line & made it impossibly long so we couldn’t get in before closing.
When you want a good view over London this is the place to go. You can't see the whole city, but a large part of it. Even when you are afraid of heights this is an attraction for you. And there is airconditioning in it, which was nice on the very hot day we visited it.
Pay the bit extra to upgrade your ticket to the VIP pass (I think it cost us an extra £20 on our family of four ticket) & download the QR code to your smartphone we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon & instead of having to queue to collect tickets then join the massive queue for the eye which was approximately 45 mins when we were there we walked up joined a separate queue had our code scanned & were on the attraction within 15 minutes it was most definitely worth the bit extra we paid.
We went on a boat cruise of the Thames on NYE and we watched the fireworks on the Eye. The cruise was OK not great and very cramped with terrible food. However the vibe was good and its the best spot for the countdown
We decided last minute not to pay extra for skip the lane and we got in within 5 minutes. It didn't take long at all!! Well if you don't mind a small wait time. Check how busy it is before you pay extra is my tip! May not be busy at all.
I liked the location definitely as it was about 15 minutes away from the river, we could see the London Eye from one of the main roads. It also had shops nearby. The cafe/restaurant/bar was useful outside - providing alcohol and food as well as room service. Food was really good quality. The price for this hotel is perfect. Luggage hold was also useful.
location was brillant over the road hyde park tube 50 yards away lancaster gate 5 minutes london eye, coffee shop just inside the gates of the park.staff were very good running a hotel in covid.
Room was like new, large bed, great shower. Complementary water and wifi. Great restaurant. Very handy for Tate, London Eye, national theatre.
excelent location, pubs, restaurants close the hotel. Short walk distance to China Town, Picadilli Circus, London Eye
The location of the hotel is excellent, it only takes 7-8 minutes to walk to the London Eye.
I bought tickets in advance because in 2014 they started charging to see the London Eye fireworks. I got there around 7PM with my friends and there were so many people getting in! Took me a while to get past the place they check your tickets but after you pass that you get plenty of time and space to settle. The fireworks were beautiful. To anyone planning to spend the NYE in London: bring food, water and get a good spot as soon as you can. You're probably only going to be able to leave the area around 1AM anyway. The subways stay open until late but they also get super crowded with people heading back home.
I would recommend the combination of attractions, and to book in advance. The London Eye was an amazing experience, the London Dungeons & Madame Tussaud's. The SeaLife Aquarium was good & we were able to casually walk around in there.
The main attractions can be seen and information gained from different types of tours from the London Eye and City Bus Tours to digital audio yours within different individual attractions visited.
