This is great we found less crowds in the early evening (which makes for good photos as well). Also it is worth noting it doesn't actually stop for getting on and off, (it doesn't go fast), but handy to know if you are old or have little kids.
Pay the bit extra to upgrade your ticket to the VIP pass (I think it cost us an extra £20 on our family of four ticket) & download the QR code to your smartphone we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon & instead of having to queue to collect tickets then join the massive queue for the eye which was approximately 45 mins when we were there we walked up joined a separate queue had our code scanned & were on the attraction within 15 minutes it was most definitely worth the bit extra we paid.
We went on a boat cruise of the Thames on NYE and we watched the fireworks on the Eye. The cruise was OK not great and very cramped with terrible food. However the vibe was good and its the best spot for the countdown
Avoid the whole area, especially on weekends: a get together of noisy crowds, food stands, skaters and the like. The whole South Bank, which was nice for a quiet stroll along the Thames, has been destroyed by this awful fair
Cues cues and more cues , even we bought "a skip the cue tickets" on line. We got there on our last day realise we had to cue for an hour to get our fast track tickets. Once we got them we were givin a time 3:30 pm. We couldn't go because we had to leave to airport. Lost all morning there and lost tickets to see the London eye ....waist of time and money Really annoying
My husband and eldest son were going on this last year and had pre-booked their tickets and a time slot. Myself and my younger son were doing the Aquarium nearby. We met up for lunch before hubby and son were doing the Eye and our youngest decided he wanted to do it. My husband queued to get another ticket for him and also as we were at least an hour early for the booked time slot, asked if we could queue there and then instead, which was absolutely no problem and they were on it within 20mins and loved it! Having done it before, I sat and watched, definitely not for anyone (like me) who cannot cope with heights, once you're on board, you are 'stuck' on it for half an hour!
The location is excellent (Zone 2). If you like walking, you can easily go on foot to main London attractions (such as Buckingham Palace or London Eye - It's less than 2 hour walk.). However, if you don't feel like walking, just across the street, there're the bus and metro stations. The price is really low for such good location. The staff is nice and there is free Wi-Fi.
The location is excellent. Just a few minutes from Waterloo Station, the London Eye, South Bank and an excellent Marks & Spencer food hall!! The studio is clean, lovely little bathroom with an excellent shower. The studio has all the privacy you need and you can feel at ease.
At first glance I found the room to be a little small for a double room as there wasn't much space around but other than that it was nice and comfy. Also the view overlooked the London eye and bit of the shard which was really cool especially at night with the lights.
We liked the space in the room and how bright it was. Really friendly and helpful staff upon checking in and out. The measures in place to keep safe at the moment are good and handy. It was always so tidy and clean throughout. Good location, really close to the London eye
View and location were incredible. Balcony overlooking London Eye. TV had plenty of channels. The selection of hot drinks was nice.
The whole experience was fantastic had a London eye view out of the room kids loved it we all did
Very clean and modern, our studio looked out into the London eye.
I bought tickets in advance because in 2014 they started charging to see the London Eye fireworks. I got there around 7PM with my friends and there were so many people getting in! Took me a while to get past the place they check your tickets but after you pass that you get plenty of time and space to settle. The fireworks were beautiful. To anyone planning to spend the NYE in London: bring food, water and get a good spot as soon as you can. You're probably only going to be able to leave the area around 1AM anyway. The subways stay open until late but they also get super crowded with people heading back home.
I would recommend the combination of attractions, and to book in advance. The London Eye was an amazing experience, the London Dungeons & Madame Tussaud's. The SeaLife Aquarium was good & we were able to casually walk around in there.
The main attractions can be seen and information gained from different types of tours from the London Eye and City Bus Tours to digital audio yours within different individual attractions visited.
