Buy your tickets ahead on line, we did, & were able to skip the long line to get in. Also the entire time was amazing! We also had tea & lunch in the tea room, our table was looking out to sea! This was on my Bucket List and it did not disappoint at all! I would do it all over again! You are not rushed at all & all the employees are very knowledgeable & eager to answer all questions.
The tour was more that worth the price! So much more information about the royals of the UK. As an American, it was very informative. A beautiful yacht. I do think it was wise, in many ways, to decommission the yacht. Such an expense, that costs the citizens of the UK to have it at the disposal of the royals.
My husband especially enjoyed visiting the Yacht as he was in High School when Queen Elizabeth II was cornered and remembers the launching of the Britannia. The ship was beautiful and the idea of finding the corgis was great as it made my son look harder at the rooms and take more time to find each dog. The shopping mall parking was poorly laid out, I don't remember any signage stating that the ship was accessed thru the Mall. The Mall looked like it needed a face lift and there were many empty shops and ones that weren't open on a Wed. by 11:00am, In high season. Had a nice gentleman not walked with us to show us where the Britannia entrance was we would have spent much time finding it. We did however, appreciate the free parking. I am always amazed that places like this allow trash to be floating about the boat. How long would it take someone to walk around the boat 1 time per day with a net to catch the debris in the water. I know they can't do anything about the smell in the water as the Bay obviously doesn't flush out well. I bet they clean it when the Queen comes to visit.
Great opportunity to see how H.M. The Queen spend hir journeys just ten years ago (although the ship operated since 1953). Almost all the ship is open for visitors with the original equipment. Very informative. Only its scenery of docs and a huge shopping mall right next to the yacht is somehow awkward.
As it was July, we were trying to fit as much as possible into our day and fortunately found out that the last viewing was at 4.30pm. We would have been disappointed if we arrived later and it had closed for the day. An enjoyable and intriguing self guided tour.
Really enjoyed this visit a bit of an insight on how the monarchy rest and played in the spare time during royal visits. How the staff worked - information on the rooms for both the staff and royal family very interesting
Our room was clean and comfortable and very quiet for a large hotel. Breakfast was excellent and all staff were friendly and helpful. Although we arrived early the receptionist advised that as our room was ready we could check in. This let us have additional leisure time. The hotel is convenient for Leith attractions such as Royal Yacht Britannia and Ocean Terminal. We felt comfortable as the hotel's Covid precautions were in evidence.
The room was spacious and very clean. Since we were the only guests having breakfast we received very personal attention. It was a cooked breakfast with fruit juice and toast, which was excellent. We managed to park right outside. Good location, walkable to restaurants and five minute drive to the Royal Yacht Britannia, also with free parking. Wish we could have stayed longer.
We visited the Royal Yacht Britannia at Leith which s 10 minutes drive from the city centre it is a fantastic place to visit and can recommend taking lunch on board
