Book early and get there very early....avoid the extreme crowds if going during the peak season (July.Aug). Bring your own water and food) as prices are "very expensive". Also wear appropriate shows, as it can get very slippery.
Kids up to 18 (!) Years have Free entrance. Show the ID at the ticket office and you get their tickets. Adults are 20 euro at the ticket office. The ticket machines dont have the option for kids up to 18 years- at least I did not find it.
Although the Acropolis is the main attraction, there are actually many other ancient sites/ruins included in the ticket for the Acropolis and history buffs could easily spend 4-5 hours up there, I did!
go very early. the line is insane. be aware that the stone while climbing is quite slippery. we saw a number of people fall. asie from the long line to purchase tickets it is best to be there early because in the summer months it is very very hot up there
The Acropolis is a beautiful centerpiece of Athens. We were lucky enough to be in the city on one of their free Sundays (which is once a month from November to March). Not only is the Acropolis free, but several others of the must-see ruins like the Agora. If you are not there on a free Sunday and you want to see several of the ruins it is worth while purchasing the combinatioin ticket to make things faster. We recommend getting there really early just as it's opening. It helps you to avoid the rush and queues. Take as many photos as you can from all angles as it is beautiful. Make sure as you do so you are still respectful as it is a historic monument, and if you don't want to get into trouble with some of the more militant guards.
Disappointing. Difficult to get a good photograph due to the amount of scaffold and heavy machinery on site. Not enough information around to read about the buildings you're looking at. Overpriced at €20 entrance fee.
This is the second time we have stayed in the same hotel - and in the same apartment. 2-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. Everything remains as it was last year, except for the disinfection stations and the way it is served at breakfast. All the staff are very kind and happy to help, and the feeling of the place is homely and pleasant. The location is perfect, surrounded by restaurants and a short drive or long walk, from the Acropolis. Even if a little noisy - so it is in all of Athens.
The location is perfect! It is across Electra Hotel. It is walking distance to all the major sites in Athens especially the Acropolis. The host was very thoughtful and kept in touch with us throughout our stay. The apartment is also spacious and has pretty much everything you need. It is close to Plaka walking street which means also close to the restaurants. Loved our stay and would love to stay here again.
My dad & I went for Christmas as we had a bereavement in July & didn’t want to stay in Dublin for Christmas. Tha city , the weather & the people were amazing & the staff at the Acropolis went overboard to help us have a fantastic stay . I hope to go not only back to Athens but also to the magic that is The Acropolis View Hotel . Thank you girls & guys for a fantastic week 💜🇬🇷🇮🇪💜🙏🙏🙏🙏
Brand new hotel/hostel. The staff was very kind and helpful, I was in Athens for a week so they recommended me plenty of sights and nice restaurants to eat at. Upon my arrival, I was upgraded to a suite, which was a very good surprise :) . The room was very spacious and confortable with an amazing view of the Acropolis from the balcony. I will stay there again If I come back to Athens one day :)
A clean and complete apartment. I loved staying here, because the place is close to any touristic highlight you want to go to in Athens. Especially the Acropolis. Metro is 10 minutes walk on a beautiful cute pedestrians street with plenty of jewellery and souvenir stalls. Good for the vacation vibes :) The neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful. People are so kind! Definitely recommend this place.
We stayed in the penthouse apartment. The property is in the very heart of Athens and has an amazing view of the Acropolis from the main bedroom. We loved the huge outside space which is rare in this location and a great bonus. The hostess, Soula, is the kindest, most attentive lady, she had read and addressed all our requests, nothing was too much trouble! We will definitely be back!
Amazing location! A short walk from the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, which we could just about see from the balcony. Nice big rooms and a well stocked kitchen! This is an apartment, not a hotel, which was great to have on a long trip. There are no staff to check you in just some very detailed easy to follow instruction on how to access your room.
This hotel is probably one of the best located hotels in Athens. The view on the acropolis from the rooftop restaurant is stunning! Shopping around the hotel is very pleasant and the acropolis and old center is within short walking distance from the hotel. Breakfast is delicious! Very good efforts to fight COVID. Recommended.
Location is fantastic. We family of 4 were able to get to the Acropolis in less than 15 min walk. There was all you may need in the apartment and all was clean. fantastic place to spend few nights when visiting Athens
The apartment is located in an amazing location of Athens close to all tourist attractions. We loved the balcony and the beautiful view of the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus.
Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.
The new Acropolis museum is a must see and a visit to the museum of Archaeology is a close second.
If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!
Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
The museums were free on certain days. The opening days and time of the new Acropolis museum was incorrect.
The new Acropolis museum was truly impressive with modern displays & interpretations.
