It is about 17 km one way. You should check weather forecast, cause if it is windy and the sea is stormy you will not be able to get back using option boat+bus. In this case you will have to go back which is OK if you are in fit (way back is an 17 km way, with altitude difference a bit less than 1000 m) or rent a room for a night which is also OK, but you'd better aware of these options.
I think if I was to hike the gorge again I’d consider hiking from the bottom up. For me hiking up I’d easier than all that pounding down and navigating rocks. It would be a haul but perhaps better. I am a fit 60+ yr old and my knees were quit sore by the bottom.
It took my friend and I seven hours to walk the track at a leisurely pace. We carried packs with all our things and that definitely slowed us down and made the walk more challenging. I was surprised that by the end my feet were what hurt most, if I do it again I will wear proper hiking shoes rather than just normal sneakers. We were there in August and there were a lot of people, we were almost never alone on the track.
