I think the Biokovo Mountain is incredible. They are stunning & take my breath away everytime I gaze at them. You can climb them too, but if you want a serious climb, I'd probably recommend a guided climb to start with.
This was the highlight of our trip to Croatia. We went with Off road Biokovo, the yellow Land Rover you may have see on the streets in Makarska. Dario showed us the most beautiful way up the mountain and his driving was excellent!
Wow what a mountain. We hiked up 396m approx as only had trainers - would need proper hiking boots to go above the tree line It was still a great hike and challenging if you like that sort of thing. The views are spectacular. There is nothing in the way of cafe or place for drinks on the way. I believe there is a mountain hut that opens in high season for drinks/snacks etc. Bring sunscreen and lots of water. There are snakes also, they were not evident when I was there. Advised long trouser in summer season. Totally worth doing.
Dominates the town of Makarska more than any other.Has a Nature Park where wildlife abounds.A marrow winding road goes to the top,and walking routes(experience and care needed)can take you to the top. From the top, stunning views over the town, over sea to the islands,to Italy on a clear day.
Went once up to Sveti Jure over 1700 m by own car. Interesting narrow route, for talented drivers. Cows and horses on the road. Beutiful scenery. Not for cloudy weather, but in a sunny day great views
Take the 23km drive to the top of the Biokovo National Park, it is stunning.
