Housed in a 10th-century Romanesque landmark, Villa Split Heritage Hotel is located within the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace in Split. Original stone building and beams, location was excellent, very clean and upmarket.
Diocletian's palace is over rated, while it is beautiful but I was shocked and horrified to see the locals celebrate a local wedding that made a mess with fireworks and streamers in a UNESCO site. Unheard of but seems to be due corrupt people in power and wealthy locals flaunting the rules. The place is very crowded with restaurants all over this UNESCO site tourist leaving wrappers and garbage in corners. Very sad and disgraceful with locals allowing food to be served and eaten in a world heritage site.
Diocletian's Palace is the main reason to visit Split. This is not a museum, although it contains several museums. The palace is a living piece of history that continues to evolve and to be used by residents and visitors alike. It is great to experience an historic place that is so energized day and night. We explored the historic elements, experienced impromptu concerts and a wedding, and we ate, shopped, enjoyed coffee, wine, and cocktails, and relaxed within its walls. I could spend many more days there and I would learn even more.
Skip the walking tour as you can easily ask the locals about its history or google it in. Lovely cafes to sit down and drink some coffee or different drinks. Few good restaurants as well as ice cream stalls. Lovely tiny streets with colourful windows. Walk by the night was fa
Would highly recommend taking a tour by a knowledgeable tour guide. We would have missed so much history and may have either bypassed streets of significance or simply not found them had we not someone to guide us.
An incredibly beautiful space. I bit like being transported back to a movie set. Not to be missed during the day and on a warm summer evening. It's very busy, but if you go to Split it's not to be missed!
We spent two weeks in Croatia in June. Although we really looked forward to seeing the Palace, we found it disappointing. You can definitely see it in an afternoon. There is not a whole lot to see. Make sure that you tour the basement. Also, consider joining a walking tour. We did not do this, but it might have helped. We just used a detailed written tour from a tour book. Finally, unless you absolutely have no other choice, don't bother touring the Palace in the afternoon. It will be packed and miserable. Go in the early morning. It is much more beautiful and striking when it is not full of people.
Split
The location of the apartment was perfect. It was really close to the Diocletian’s Palace, the riva promenade, main bus station and port - all were within a short walking distance. The apartment looked fairly new and was clean and comfortable. There was also a shared kitchen for guests to use. Davor and his staff were all really friendly and helpful. I was also given a later check-out time as my ferry didn’t leave Split until later in the day which I really appreciated - thanks Davor!
Evala luxury rooms was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Their facilities are second to none, especially for the location which is just five minutes from the Diocletian’s Palace! We were provided with everything we needed during our stay and the staff were very easy to contact any time of the day. They provided us with great recommendations for where to visit including some excellent local restaurants. There was no way in which our visit could have been improved. 10/10!
Split
Superb location. Just 100-150m from both Diocletian’s Palace and the waterfront. Two 24-hour bakeries about 50m away, plus a farmer’s market, a pharmacy, a kebab shop, and several grocery stores. You don’t really get a view from the property itself, but that’s what the rest of the city is for. They do have a nice balcony where you can sit to eat breakfast and enjoy the breeze. I found my room very comfortable, and the hosts very responsive and helpful.
Split
The large light room which was thoughtfully fitted and furnished to the highest standard and the exceptionally efficient helpful and friendly staff. The position was just right being easy walking distance from Diocletian’s Palace but the hotel does not have the old town crowds and rowdiness in its immediate vicinity.
The location is simply incredible, right in the centre of Diocletian’s Palace (just behind the vestibule) and just steps from the main sights, restaurants etc. Super nice and helpful staff, nice rooms, breakfast outside in the small square
The location was great; only a short walk to the harbour and a 10 minute stroll to get to Diocletian’s Palace. The room itself was quite cozy, although a little on the smaller side, which suited our short stay just fine.
Split

Split
Perfect position to explore Diocletian’s Palace as you’re in it - maybe in the servant quarter area but so easy to get around.
