Amazing to have a walking tour of Split and the Diocletian's Palace on our first day. It gave us a real understanding of the place. We spoke to a couple of guides and chose Zdenko Cvijetic an official city tour guide who grew up in Split. tel: +385977119791 He was amazing, really knowledgeable and entertaining. Spoke perfect English and the tour was well paced. Lot's of great stories about this wonderful city!
Diocletian's palace is over rated, while it is beautiful but I was shocked and horrified to see the locals celebrate a local wedding that made a mess with fireworks and streamers in a UNESCO site. Unheard of but seems to be due corrupt people in power and wealthy locals flaunting the rules. The place is very crowded with restaurants all over this UNESCO site tourist leaving wrappers and garbage in corners. Very sad and disgraceful with locals allowing food to be served and eaten in a world heritage site.
Diocletian's Palace is the main reason to visit Split. This is not a museum, although it contains several museums. The palace is a living piece of history that continues to evolve and to be used by residents and visitors alike. It is great to experience an historic place that is so energized day and night. We explored the historic elements, experienced impromptu concerts and a wedding, and we ate, shopped, enjoyed coffee, wine, and cocktails, and relaxed within its walls. I could spend many more days there and I would learn even more.
Skip the walking tour as you can easily ask the locals about its history or google it in. Lovely cafes to sit down and drink some coffee or different drinks. Few good restaurants as well as ice cream stalls. Lovely tiny streets with colourful windows. Walk by the night was fa
Would highly recommend taking a tour by a knowledgeable tour guide. We would have missed so much history and may have either bypassed streets of significance or simply not found them had we not someone to guide us.
An incredibly beautiful space. I bit like being transported back to a movie set. Not to be missed during the day and on a warm summer evening. It's very busy, but if you go to Split it's not to be missed!
The location was excellent, right in the heart of Narodni Trg (People's Square) and very near to the Diocletian’s Palace and the Promenade. Although we were on the 1st floor, and right above a very busy and popular restaurant, the sound proofing was excellent - we could barely hear any noise at all. The apartment was also very stylishly done up, it was large, the bathroom was large and the water pressure was great. A free bottle of water and wine was provided by the Host, and even their homemade walnut wine as well.
Wow, what an amazing view! It was just as good, if not better than the photos and right in the heart of Diocletian’s palace. I don’t think you can have much better location in Split. The apartment itself was very nicely furnished and we particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. The balcony is extremely spacious and was amazing to look out over the heart of Split. We loved it! Very easy handover from transfer to meet the host who showed us around and gave us the keys.
Superb location. Just 100-150m from both Diocletian’s Palace and the waterfront. Two 24-hour bakeries about 50m away, plus a farmer’s market, a pharmacy, a kebab shop, and several grocery stores. You don’t really get a view from the property itself, but that’s what the rest of the city is for. They do have a nice balcony where you can sit to eat breakfast and enjoy the breeze. I found my room very comfortable, and the hosts very responsive and helpful.
Location was great- apartments just outside one of the entrances to Diocletian’s Palace. Lots of restaurants, bars and cafes within walking distance. Small supermarkets close by too. Breakfast at Lvxor was very good. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful- carried our suitcases up to our room (three floors) when we checked in.
Very good location - ten minutes to Diocletian’s palace, tree minutes to Bacvice beach. The apartments are located in a quiet and peaceful location. About apartments - all the good that you read about this apartment is true. Hope booking this apartments again on next our holidays in Split! The hostess Daria was helpful and welcoming. Thank you, Daria!
The location is simply incredible, right in the centre of Diocletian’s Palace (just behind the vestibule) and just steps from the main sights, restaurants etc. Super nice and helpful staff, nice rooms, breakfast outside in the small square
The location was great; only a short walk to the harbour and a 10 minute stroll to get to Diocletian’s Palace. The room itself was quite cozy, although a little on the smaller side, which suited our short stay just fine.
walking distance to port and Diocletian’s Palace
