The 5-star Villa Orsula, set only a 5-minute walk from Dubrovnik’s centre, offers unique views of the Adriatic Sea, Lokrum Island and the Old Town. We were treated very well upon arrival and found a bottle of bubbly in our room together with some...
It really pays well to visit this charming island, only 10min boat ride from Dubrovnik. The boat comes and goes every half an hour. The island is a perfect getaway from the crowded and heated streets, you can walk among the peacocks and rabbits, visit Diocletian's gardens (filming location of Got), walk freely through the forest from one side to the other, swim on numerous small beaches... Heaven on earth.
If its hot go early and stay later. During the hottest parts for the day site in the shade in the "snack bar" near where the boat drops you off or in the gardens under a tree. Lots of shady walks to be done. We had a refreshing swim in the area near the jetty for the boat back to cool down before heading back. Son use a snorkel to see the fish. There seems to be more fish on the south side of the island than the north near where the boat comes in.
The boat trip/park entrance isn't cheap at Kuna 120. There are no beaches as such but the "Dead Sea" rock pool is very pretty and swimable if you have appropriate footwear. There are some good views of the old town from the northern end, not so much from Fort Royal. Lots of rabbits and peacocks. Swimming is possible near the ferry jetty by way of ladders off the rocks.
We went to Lokrum because of the reviews we read but personally I was disappointed. The only place to lay out is on huge uncomfortable rocks / boulders. If you go take something soft like a yoga mat to lay on. I found it pretty boring so we left after an hour.
Quite nice to break away from the very full beaches in Dubrovnick. No real beach but you can easily place your towel on the large rocks and swim nearby! Try the other Islands as well - Lopum, Kolosep!
Don't get swindled by the guys selling tours at old port. The brochure we were given by Regina Maris Tours with the 2 boats on the cover...neither of those safe larger boats were the boat we went on... Having said that it was a fun day!
Ploce, Dubrovnik
Situated in a beautiful neighbourhood, the building (studio with a balcony) offers nice view over Lokrum island and the old town, which is within walking distance (around 10 minutes). Being based in this part of the city, you not only can reach Banje beach within just a few minutes but also take a stroll to the much less busy Divovici beach and, further east, Sveti Jacov beach, both amazing. Staff are really kind and attentive to any needs you may have. The studio is comfortable with amenities including coffee maker and beach towels.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
Beautiful apartment, with fabulous views over lokrum island and the old town. Nikolina met us at the apartment and was very helpful pointing out places of interest. She also left us local chocolates and liqueurs made by her Mother, both delicious. She also arranged for a driver to pick us up and drop us back at the airport. Lovely guy. Would stay in the apartment again. We always walked down to the old town, but It was quite a walk back up hill, but the bus stop is nearby, and the buses were every half hour so no problem.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
This place is perfect for Family or friends. Very close to the old city with beautiful views across to Lokrum island and the old city and a short walk to the beach. I can not say enough good things about this host. They were amazing from tips for amazing restaurants close by and pick up from the ferry. We loved staying here and will bring our friends back next year. Tip, try the restaurant at the bottom of the stairs on way to beach. Most amazing lamb - just be sure to let them though as the lamb takes 3 hours to cook.
Old Town, Dubrovnik
We had a wonderful 8 nights stay in Villa Palo Alto. The house is execellently located just of the main street Stradun in Dubrovnik old town (pedestrian area). All the rooms were comfortable, the kitchen was brand new with nice and modern appliances but the best feature was the terrace on the last floor with amazing view over the old town, Fort Lovrijenac, fort Minceta, Lokrum island, Adriatic sea and even Cavtat in the distance. Our host Sasa was very helpful and her hospitality was realy more then anyone could expect.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
The apartment was in a brilliant location, 2 minutes walk from Ploce Gate and from the cable car. It was easy to get into the old town and to Banje beach. It was a very comfortable, modern apartment, clean, tidy and very well equipped, with everything you could need including a combi washing machine/tumble dryer. It also had a nice view of Lokrum island. Our host Ankica was extremely helpful, she offered to pick up from the airport and told us about some lovely restaurants, trips and sights in and around Dubrovnik.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
Marina was an excellent host. She arranged transport from the airport and met us at the apartment. Our plane was delayed and we arrived after 10pm, but she was friendly and helpful. The view from the apartment terrace is fantastic. Looking out to sea, Lokrum Island and the Old Town is something we never got tired of. There is a supermarket close by. The apartment is comfortably furnished with air conditioning in living and bedrooms.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
Everything was so well organised - hosts arranged taxi transfer, and met us at the property. They explained everything, and were right on hand if we needed them. Lovely apartment, beautiful bathrooms especially. Apartment is a short walk from main town, and has a spectacular view of Lokrum Island and the harbour. Nice little beach very close. We would definately go back there again and stay for longer.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
The apartment is small but had the basics and it is in a wonderful location, within easy walking distance of all the best bits of Dubrovnik, including the Old Town, and with a beautiful view over to Lokrum Island. The wifi is excellent and the host is always quick to help if asked but otherwise gives you your privacy.
Dubrovnik
Perfect location with beautiful view of Dubrownik old town and city walls and Lokrum island. The room was quite clean, the bed was comfortable. Nice terrace with tables and chairs with beautiful views. Walking distance to the old town. The manager - Peter is very nice and helpful.
Ploce, Dubrovnik
Fabulous view of Lokrum island and the old town. It couldn't have been better. Great size apartment for the two of us, good facilities. We did have some trouble obtaining the key, but that was all sorted.
mostly rocky beaches, few gravel beaches; island of Lokrum with beaches, walking paths, parks, playgrounds and an old fortress at the top of the island; mountain Srđ gives a total new landscape after you leave the viewpoint
Old town (all of it!) - best at both ends of day when tourist groups not around. Fransiscan Monastery cloisters if you love sunlight on stone. Town walls for views. Check out Dubrovnik pass for reduced entrance fees and bus. Lokrum Island - 10 mins by boat to leafy peace (not to mention decent restaurant amongst the trees). Excursion to Elafite Islands for enjoyable messing about in boats - and a (rare in these parts) sandy beach.
It is super clean and felt very safe for toddlers to run around. In the evening people some with their creativity, like mimes and exotic birds. There is also a boat taking you to a Lokrum Island which is great to wander and swim with the kids.
Lokrum an island 10 min away from Dubrovnik presents very nice garden
The city walls, the different Palaces, the fort and the old port and Lokrum are my best memories
We really enjoy a paddle around Lokrum the guide was great and shared information about the area as we paddled around.
