Very large (olympic size?) public indoor swimming pool and also large outdoor pool. Not in the football stadium but very close by 'Poljud Pools' Good if you like swimming but found it difficult working out when its open - we turned up earlier than the advertised opening time found on the internet but found it open and were able to go straight in.
Take a small cushion with you as the seats are very uncomfortable and by the end of a match you could be quite sore. Be aware that if you are from the UK you may be a little shocked at some of the pyrotechnics used. The 'bangers' sounded more like bombs than a firework. Not sure if this is legal in Croatia as we were thoroughly searched on entry (don't know what they were looking for). This said we saw no sign of trouble and felt very safe. Apart from the "Ultra's" who were all on the North stand the crowd was made up of friendly well behaved fans of all ages.
You can buy your ticket at the Hadjuk fan shop in the Old Town, which is near the fish market. Ticket was about £8 Looked like you could buy them on the day outside the ground as well You can drink in the stadium. A pint is about £2.50
Poljud Stadium is the Home of Croatia's Sons the all mighty Hajduk...It took us 30 minutes walking there and back. Got lost few times but having our trusty map saved us. I would do it again just to go and look at the stadium...It is a large place and when there are no matches looks deserted. So we went on the day when nothing was happening. There is a bar at the stadium and a Merchendise Shop there as well. Spend some time having a drink and then go and invest in a Hayduk jersy
Beware: lots of beer gets consumed here. Especially in games such as Hajduk Split and Dynamo Zagreb, the crowd gets very raucus and, for the faint-hearted may seem a little threatening. Crowd antics may seem unrelated to the match being played out. Crowd is a spectacle in its own right.
Went to see Hajduk play at 8pm. Had dinner before we went - mistake!! When we got there, it was full of bbq stands cooking local specialties like cevapcic and beer stands etc. Could have eaten there before we went into the game. Atmosphere game amazing!!
The place is fully renovated, located in a quiet neighbourhood, 2min walk away from stadium Poljud and 10min from the center of Split. There was 4 of us there, so each pair had its own room. Our host Daniela was a delight, she was already at the apartment when we got there, and even saved a parking spot for us. We would definitely book again! :)
