I visited the island a few years ago when there were several bars, restaurants and other small facilities along the beach front. All of these added to the charm and appeal of the beach at this and nearby locations. Frankly, since their ordered removal by the powers to be, the state of the beach has diminished significantly where by all of the foundations of past facilities still remain leaving an eyesore along the beach front. Not only has this occurred but the owners of these previous facilities kept this area relatively well maintained in order to live up to its name as a romantic venue to visit by honeymooners. It is now a dump where rubbish blown by the wind or left by the waves collects along the shore. In short an environmental program meant to improve the area has resulted in an environmental disaster.
We walked up the path to the top of the hill. There were several large trees that had fallen over the path & lantana had grown up & over it in places. There was a clearing that we watched the sun set from & then we carefully walked down a beaten track to the other side of the Island; it was quite an adventure.
come early to take photo by the ombak sunset swing. there will be long queue for this! or just book a table for candle light dinner and watching sunset from your table. several hotels offer the same as ombak sunset hotel :)
Plenty of places to watch the sunset if you get there early enough. Sunset bar (as you first come round the corner from the west side of the island) was probably the best for me. To the left you can see lombok, straight ahead you can see bali, then to the right, the sunset.
Watch out for the instagram loving, hair adjusting, thong wearing vacuous hordes that queue up by the swing in the ocean in order to take that perfect profile picture... Cycle about 5 minutes further up the island for the sameness sunset but with less people clamouring around.
It's worth the hike up the stairs towards the tower to see the sun set over the sea beside Bali. Take a towel to wipe off the sweat and if you stay until dark you will need a flashlight or phone light to make it easier to come back through the bushes and down the stairs. Take a couple of cold beers with you and enjoy the view.
The ground rooms have direct access to swimming pool. Location can’t be better than this as it is close to the port, the night market, all the best cafes and restaurants, to the main beach, and not far from the sunset point. The staff were attentive. Our room door was a bit difficult to slide open & close, the staff fixed it right away. The Indian restaurant at the hotel is not to be missed. One of the best meals in Gili T and def the best shisha in the island.
Villa Edenia exceeded our expectations! Breakfasts are beautiful and after one evening of eating out we chose to eat at the hotel restaurant with excellent meals delivered to our villa, every meal was delicious! The staff go over and above to ensure your stay is perfect! It’s a 10 minute walk to sunset point or a 5 min cycle - we recommend hiring bikes (only 50k from the hotel for a day) and touring the island. Snorkelling best in the morning :)
Everything was just lovely, the staff were soo friendly and all greated us as we walked along the bridge towards the villa. We were provided with much needed refreshing welcome drinks On arrival and our villawas so cute, clean and perfect. The villa is close to sunset point so we never missed a sunset, we also rented bicycles form the villa to get around which was highly convenient. Would definitely recommend ponte villas.
Excellent!! Pondok is the hotel you are looking for!! Very kind and professional staff, working around the clock to make sure you are happy! High quality food!! Comfortable bungalows and very eco friendly! The private beach and lounge make this hotel a pearl in Gili T. Very close to the amazing sunset point.
located at the sunset point of Gili T, it is the perfect sunset viwepoint. we actually loved everything, the staff to begin with, the style and interior design of the rooms and main areas, the menu, cocktails, pool, you name it. perfect distance to the party high streets in Gili T (not too far, not too close!).
