The sellers are quite pushy and do become plain aggressive when see you're not about to buy anything. Not the place I'd recommend if you want to maintain the idea of friendly locals and authentic market experience!
Lots of arts and handicrafts and you gotta bargain hard to get a good rate. They will start with really high price! If you are not the bargaining kind of person, go to Krishna Ole-Ole in Kuta, fixed price with good rates, and quality items too.
Fun! Start early, so you can just stroll around the whole day. Have a good bargain with the sellers, cause that's the national Indonesian sport! But never get angry if you don't get the price you want to. It's just a game! Most of all: enjoy everything and all the people.
I always choose to stay in Suweta Street area that I can have morning walk to Ubud market. Fruits and traditional snacks are delicious and cheap. Always enjoy wandering around and getting lost among busy ladies and their enchanting chatting.
overpriced tourist market but still fun for a wander but listening to the haggling over small amounts of money and rudeness from some tourists towards vendors can be enough to make you want to tell them to stop
Always half everything and take even more off that price when they tell you how much. Then they will say no and ask for more. Then say less again until you reach a good price. Be firm and prepared to walk away. They’ll usually call you back and ask how much you want to pay. Stick to your guns. If you take the piss with it though, they can ask YOU to leave lol. (Happened to a friend).
Ubud
You will find here the loveliest hosts! Friendly, Balinese family. They will help you with everything. The accommodation might not be the same as you expect, but it's nothing you won't like. Very good place, worth the money. Nice room with a terrace. The bedroom is spacious. The bathroom clean. Very good location, it's walking distance to the main road where you will find cafes, restaurants, and the Ubud market. At the same time, you don't feel you are in the center with all that craziness around. Great place for 2-3 nights!
Very friendly and helpful staff, good choice of breakfast, welcome drink (freshly squeezed juice), you can get to the property only by a walk or motorbike (free 24 hour pick up by the hotel), motorbike drive is so much fun, smallish property surrounded by rice paddies and fields. I loved early morning walks the rice paddies watching a beautiful sunrise. Stunning views of Mount Agung (especially in the mornings). 10 minutes walk from Ubud market and our favourite Cafe Lotus.
Everything. The peaceful location minutes away from Ubud market. Many choices for breakfast, with fresh fruits and pastries. There is a restaurant on site that prepares Italian and Indonesian food. In the evenings I got room service and the meals were tasty. Rooms and common area were stylish, clean, and well maintained. We felt like we were home there with the welcoming owners and staff.
Despite the fact that it is located in the center of Ubud (500 meters from Monkey Forest and from Ubud Market), the hotel is very quiet, peaceful and very green. Small rice fields which are inside the hotel area are amazing and a swimming pool with the jungle view is wondrous (the hotel has two swimming pools). Hotel stuff is very kind and helpful, breakfasts were delicious.

It was a very relaxing stay at Kaamala, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back and cant recommend this place enough.
This was my third stay at Alam Terrace Cottages, I love it here. A little away from the main hustle and bustle of Ubud Market, but still close enough to get around. The hotel is always quite, the pool is great, aircon strong, and staff are all so lovely. They always arrange a scooter for me too.
