Corso italia is the main street that goes straight through the main Sorrento Square, the Piazzo Tasso. One end has the train station and the traffic is extremely busy and a bit scary, the other end (keeping the statue of San Antonio at your back and the restaurant Fauro to your left) is much nicer. All the lovely windy streets lead off this end and lead you down towards the Cloisters and the lift to the port from where you can get the boat to Capri and the Amalfi coast. In the evening this end of the Corso Italia is closed off for many hours to traffic. it is full of lovely shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. I would recommend staying in this end of the Corso Italia. Sorento is very easy to get around and a lovely place however there are very very few signs/indications of where to go/streets etc so don't get in a panic, take your time to explore and enjoy. The food is amazing and there is plenty to do and see.
Too touristy and in a bad way. Cheap and low quality merchandise. Mediocre food. However, prices are much higher than Rome and Sienna. I would not come back to Sorrento. If you have never been, don't bother. Not worth the money nor effort.
Dea Guest House more than met my expectations! Firstly the location is excellent - right on the main tourist street (Corso Italia) close to a multitude of restaurants, bars and shops and only a ten minute walk from bus and train station. Our room was spotlessly clean with air conditioning, safe, tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. The bathroom and shower were both excellent and the bed very comfortable. We also had a balcony which overlooked Corso Italia. Herman was a great host and really made our stay a 10 out of 10!
the location of the apartment was perfect for us it was right in the center of everything. Angela our host was fantastico she organised our airport transfers and was always contactable for anything we needed. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything we need for our stay Our apartment had a nice little balcony which overlooked the pedestrianised part of Corso Italia which was nice to sit and have a coffee or glass of wine excellent double glazed windows insured at night you were not disturbed by any street noise
Breakfast was very nice, cappuccino and coffee were prepared on the spot ( not with automatic machines!!) cakes were fresh and tasty. The location is perfect, just 2 minutes walking and you are in Corso Italia, the center of Sorrento full of shops and bars, the room was stylish and clean, the staff was super friendly and helpful! The pool is a bit small but very cozy , the roof terrace is amazing and has a nice view, i loved it! It's super nice to stay there and enjoy a drink in the sun and close to the pool.
Hotel is in very privileged location - overlooking the town, coast and Vesuvio AND having vast Olive garden around. That comes with a cost - you need to walk down the hill to reach the town but it's pleasant walk. Up to 15 mins to reach beginning of Corso Italia. Return trip is a bit more challenging but nothing scary. Due to the size of the garden it is easy to park inside.
The location was perfect for us, close to the lift to the beach, the "Villa Comunale" (a place that has excellent views of the Sorrento coastline, the marina and the Bay of Naple), the Corso Italia (the main street) and Piazza Tasso. The staff is great and very prompt. It really exceeded our expectations.
Great spacious apartment with views of the sea and Vesuvius from the balcony. Also great location at one end of Corso Italia and well placed for the seafood restaurants at Marina Grande. The garage was also pretty handy as parking in Sorrento is in short supply.
Lovely family run hotel and all staff very helpful. Excellent location on pedestrian area of Il Corso Italia within easy reach of train station, restaurants and beach.
