This is bigger than it looks, plenty of history, if you take the time to read the signs and notices around. It can get very hot walking around and up to Palletine Hill is not for the weak. It’s very strenuous, brilliant views at the top though, if you make it that far!
Absolutely amazing!!! In winter try and do a guided tour earlier as a late one lasting an hour will mean you will have no time to self exploreand you will regret it! Definitely do a guided tour though or atleast audio gudied tour. If possible to the collosseum and this on separate days but on the same days even it ll be ok if short for time
You can see virtually all that you need to see from the surrounding roads and pathways. Entrance to the Forum is not cheap, and there is a Forum-employed official who tries to direct queuers to the highly expensive guided tours. To this end, he derides the audio-guides as being 'useless'. We decided to give the whole thing a miss.
For history and literature buffs, this is the place where it all happened. Centrally located to the Coliseum, Trajan's Column, the Wedding Cake and museums and many other attractions. Watch out for the itinerants and illegal immigrants - no matter what story they spin, all they want is your money. Be firm and say NO, always.
3 tips that are an ABSOLUTE MUST!!!!!! 1. PRE BOOK TICKETS ONLINE. 2. ARRIVE EARLY - 08:30 3. get a guided tour - the best we had was FUN TOURS - DAVID and his wife CATERINA were exeptional. Alternatively download Rick Steve's Audio tour app to your phone wich is better than the audio guides you can purchase and is completely free. DO NOT JUST WONDER ROUND LOOKING AT OLD BRICKS!!! BONUS TIP - Book Davids Nightime Tour of Rome. He is extremely passionate and goes into great detail taking you under ground and giving you amazing depth of knowledge. His english is superb (without accent) and his delivery is casual yet engaging. He also uses radio mike which makes a huge difference. Far superior tour guide and very cheap too. Just 25euro for 2.5 hr tour which he ended up actaully 3.5 hours. cant recomend him highly enough. David +39 345 337 0484
A single tickets is issued for the Forum, Palatine, and colleseum. Make sure you see all that you want in the Palatine and forum before heading on to the Colleseum as you won't be able to get back in on the same ticket once you leave!
Marco was exceptional - he helped us secure on street parking, he advised on which superb local restaurants to eat at, told us which trams to take, he made a booking for a tour of the Roman Forum and gave us a bottle of red wine as a farewell gift. We felt like honoured guests. The super breakfast was prepared every morning fresh and delivered to our room. The location in the Trastevere district was very central - an easy walk to the river, and the #8 tram was directly opposite the rooms.
Lorenzo was a great owner, he was very informative and friendly, the rooms was cleaned every day with fresh towels provide, the breakfast was brought to our room every morning at whatever time was convenient for us. The hotel location is perfect for the main sites of the roman forum, palatine hill and Colosseum only 5 min walk away. The streets behind the hotel are also full of bars and restaurants where both tourists and locals mingle (socially distanced in these COVID times).
Very nice and helpful staff. Many rooms have only one bunk bed, which is a bonus point compared with other hostels where for the same price you share the room with up to 9 persons or more. The outdoor area is nice, with greenery and many tables and chairs. Location is fine, not far from Roma Termini where you have the 2 subway lines, many buses. You can also easily walk to the Roman Forums and the Monti quarter where there are many places to eat or have a drink.
The Coliseum and the roman forum are really close (20 min by foot, or you can take a bus or the subway to get fast to the city center). The apartments are clean and well equipped, the ventilators are a very good help in hot summer days. Also the staff is really nice and helpful. Leaving our luggage for the whole day on the check out day was not a problem.
The location is exceptional - 3 minutes to either the Colleseum or the Roman Forum. Alessandro couldn't have been more helpful getting settled in. The room was spacious and as clean as you'd want it to be. The bathroom was well appointed. I would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone.
Location was amazing very close to Colesseum and Roman Forum. Monti District was very vibrant plenty of places to eat. Staff at hotel exceptionally friendly. Breakfast served on roof terrace Lorenzo very attentive and super friendly. Would definitely return!!
Really nice district with lots of bars and restaurants, and Colloseum, Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia really close! The accommodation is a cozy lovely studio, with all you need inside. Cavour metro station is like 20 meters from the doorway.
The location was excellent, a short walk from the colloseum and the roman forum. The staff were really flexible and allowed us to check out late on our departure date which allowed us to spend the whole day enjoying Roma!
Good location - a walking distance from the Roman Forum, also close to the Metro. Nice courtyard. Nice room with high ceilings, decorated with cobweb. Greetings to the spider, we saw it.
The location cannot be faulted for convenience and access to all the sites. Views of the Colosseum, Roman forum and the palace! The room was a great size. The roof terrace is a a great bonus.
Pre-book tickets to the Vatikan (guided tour to see the high lights recommended) and tickets to the Colosseum. These can also be bought at the entrance to Forum Romanum (shorter line).
Nothing beats the ruins of the Roman Forum where the ancient Romans once trod.
Capitoline museum has a roof top café with fantastic views- also on another level there is a panoramic view of the roman forum - both worth the entry fee!
Vatican City and if you can use your imagination the the Roman Forum
Visit the Forum and walk down Fori Imperiali in the evening - amazing.
Buy the ticket for Colloseum at the enterence to Forum Romanum and Palatin, you will avoid giant line (3 attractions cost altogether 12 euro)! FAst track ticket for the VAtican Museum is also good idea (we did it), you can buy at the enterence to the St. Peter's Basilic. It is quite expensive, but it helps you to avoid huge line and to see both attractions during one day.
