There was a re- enactment of the U.S army relieved the occupation forces in WWII centred around Helpoort when we were there. It was interesting that Maastricht was the first Nederland city to be freed.
The hostel is right next to the river and surrounded by a park. The huge windows in the rooms allow you to admire the scene even without heading out. Must be great if you could manage to arrive by boat. The staffs at the reception and restaurant are very friendly. The location is rather close to city center, Helpoort is right across the road. I like the breakfast and appreciate the effort that they try to serve local produced products.
Hotel on river Maas with beautiful view of the city. It's a beautiful city! Have to see old bridge, St Servaas church, Onze Lievevrouwe plein (square), Helpoort and Pesthouse etc. Lots to see! Also many nice bars and restaurants on Markt or Vrijthof.
