Get a guide - should cost ~60 sol for an hour tour. Pronounced "sexy woman" Left the area heading towards big jesus statue and got approached for a horse riding tour - excellent tour only ~50 sol/head up to some more ruins - beats walking at altitude.
This was the only nearby ruin worth visiting in my opinion, pretty cool. Huge stones amazing fit together perfectly. The other local ruins on the tourist ticket were small and unimpressive after we had already visited Pisac, Chinchero, Ollaytaytambo and of course Machu Picchu.
Skip the rip-off entry price and just either get a cab (10min) or walk (1 hour) up to the site from town, then follow the road to Christo Blanco (Christ statue) and you'll see just as much without the price. Then walk back down to the main town centre (about 30 minutes and really interesting).
My friend and I I hired a private taxi to take us there . Make sure you also walk around , behind the site, to get to the big cross overlooking the magnificent view of the whole city of Cusco surrounded by the majestic mountains . Breathtak
Not far from town. If you like archeology and history, it can be a nice place for you to visit. A complex built out of stones in different shapes and sizes, but which match in the most perfect ways. Puts a large question mark on haw could they have done this long time ago, without all the technology. The entrance fee is 70 soles, but it is not only for this site as it includes more archeological sites. So keep the tickets.
The owners of Hostal Qolqampata are amazing. They are friendly, thoughtful and very kind. We stayed with a large group of friends and family because my husband and I were getting married on February 14th in the sacred valley and it far exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was delicious, the beds were super comfortable and the showers were hot! The view from the lounge area is also breathtaking and you're only a few kilometers from Sacsayhuaman. It's a great place to stay in Cuzco. We will definitely be back!
Very friendly girls working there. Super pancakes every morning. It is nice place to stay. I am sure that in future place will be way better. I had a double room with bathroom together. Hotel is not very far from centre. Maybe 15 min walk. Also bus station Cruz del Sur is in 20min walk. I took bus from Cusco to Nasca. Convenient to walk to Sacsayhuaman and other ruins. Near hotel (Puputi street) you can catch colectivo to Pisac but I didn't had time for it :( Also, small shops are cheaper to buy water and etc.
