Amazing! Lots going on and great photo opportunities. Don't miss the modern art gallery as well as the semi-hidden gallery and gift shop inside the iconic main archways to the main gate. Still being added to following the clearing of old amusements. Little coffee shops and a lovely place to relax.
Make sure the taxi driver knows where he/she is taking you as we were dropped off about 750metres from the park and were catching a boat from the pier there which we missed. They were very kind and let us on the next one. Spent a lovely hour in the park while waiting
There are many scooter/bicycle/skateboard/segway rental stalls along the way. Highly recommend that you rent one of these, since gorky park is huge and therefore hard to walk around. The cost is around 250 ruble per hour with a deposit of your ID (any ID with picture) or 1500 ruble. I did the scooter ride with my friends along the Moskva river, on the right side of the park, it was our most favorite time of the whole vacation.
Allow time to wander the riverside park, enjoy the sculptures and quaff some wine or sip coffee. A lovely atmosphere, next time I will hire a bike to cycle the whole park. Its special and accessible and feels like a great facility. Just up from the main entrance by the vast statue of Peter the Great is a department store that would compete with Fortnum's for its wonderful diverse and exquisitely presented foods.
Most beautiful park I've ever seen. And I saw only a small part of it. Great riverside where you can relax or ride bike and walk. Inside many restaurants (but never visit Tyotya Motya, rude service and really slow, food average). Also on the grass there are nice chairs to relax in. People stay there under the sun, so good alternative for people who want to get tanned. Also, by the river side, next to the bridge, there wad a music playing and couples were dancing (Latina and rock and roll). Was really nice. So, loved the place and will spend more time there next visit.
Take taxi or to this park. Well worth the trip. Taxi back can be flagged down outside park. Or check the busses before you go. Stop right outside park. If possible get there early, much better without crowds. If you have more time take a picnic and just chill.
Muzeon - Gorky park - Neskuchny sad - Vorobyevy gory is a spectacular route for walking, cycling or skating
