Khao Takiap Temple is great if you like monkeys, they run freely around the temple grounds and will attack if they see something worth stealing. The view of Hua Hin up there is spectacular on a clear day, so hide any food or jewellery and don't forget your camera!!
The place is pretty much in ruins, particularly the temple at the top of the steep stairs. The view isn't that great since you will see a lot of garbage and debris in the foreground. But if you are up for it, you will do a good deed by going there to make a donation for the cats and the upkeep for good karma.
A nice walk to the temple, the monkeys are fun to watch, the younger ones enjoy sliding down the railings on the stairs while the older ones will be quick to take your bottle of drink or sunglasses if youre not paying attention. There are a few souvenir shops to look at also. All in all, not too bad.
For such a landmark at this, it is in a disgraceful condition. Dirty, rubbish everywhere and buildings in a terrible state of disrepair. It could be great, but now is neglected and sad. Worth a visit, but only once.
More people need to donate to help. Saw some tourists walk around not even put 20 baht in the pot for feed the cats or monkeys. As you walk up the main flight of stairs, keep you eye out for a small cave to the left and you will find inside a lovely cave Buddha.
