Good views of manhattan from the bridge and also visit the Brooklyn park for good photo shots. If you want a peaceful walk across you will need to go before 7am. Anytime after this be prepared for it to be very busy.
Went relatively early in the day so there were not too many people. Liked taking the metro to Brooklyn and walking across to Manhattan to see the skyline. Short walk to Mot street and Chinatown, then up Mulberry street to Little Italy and into Soho
My top tip is to walk the Brooklyn Bridge from City Hall, go though DUMBO, taking in the classic view of the Manhattan Bridge from Washington Street, and then walk back across the Manhattan Bridge on the South Side walkway (facing the Brooklyn Bridge). The walkway is a bit scruffy (not touristy...!), and noisy (trains!!), but it is authentic, atmospheric (seen on Album covers and movies) and great for pictures of Brooklyn Bridge. You exit in Chinatown, fairly close to a Grey Line stop if you are using it for touring.
We got caught in a thunderstorm and took shelter at the column on the Brooklyn side we, huddled up with about 40-50 more tourists from around the world. We all got soaked to the skin but this only gave us an even stronger memory take away the storm was ferocious but beautiful and Brooklyn Bridge is truly epic.
Get on a Hop-On Hop-Off bus and get off at the station nearest to the Bridge, then you can walk the whole length and back. It is also in a perfect position to walk around City Hall and St. Pauls Chapel.
Go early as it gets really crowded. Amazing photo opportunities all the way along. Go from the city side to the Brooklyn side and then spend some time along the Brooklyn waterfront which is incredible!
The reception staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming and it felt very safe and secure there. The area is very safe, if lacking in immediate amenities. I liked being close to navy yard, dumbo, brooklyn bridge all walking distance, or a short bus ride. It was quiet in the hotel, quite a family feel to it, and everything was clean. Also a very basic but inclusive breakfast if you wanted it. I liked it!
We arrived from Europe for a 5 day holiday and stayed at the Pod for one night. Very good location in Williamsburg/Brooklyn NY. 5 min Uber Taxi to the commencement of Brooklyn Bridge in order to take the walk over the bridge. The room was comfortable but small with 2 bunk beds. Ideal for a one night stay. There's a great little breakfast place just across from the hotel.
Excellent hotel, staff and location. Close to the subway, Smith Street with some excellent bars and restaurants and, Brooklyn Bridge is a short walk away. They left a bottle of wine and chocolates in the room during our stay as it was my birthday, which was a really nice touch! Can't fault it.
Good location, but we had higher hopes. You can walk to DUMBO and Brooklyn bridge. There is direct metro to Coney Island. Hotel overally was good. There is nice bar at the lobby. WiFi working as expected. Room was equipped with all you need + some exercise tools. Big bathroom.
The location is incredible - views over the Financial District, Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. The hotel is set back in a tranquil park and when the window is closed the room is completely silent. Bed was very comfy, rainfall shower excellent.
Location close to Manhatten but not at the stone pocket. Few pleasant restaurants and Dumbo area outside the hotel. Walking distance to Brooklyn bridge and Brooklyn park on East River. Nice area. 24 hours tea ,coffee , fruits free at the hotel.
The hotel was perfectly situated near several underground stations, making it easy to go anywhere in Manhattan. Also walking to Brooklyn Bridge was perfectly possible. The reception staff was very helpful and friendly.
The location was excellent, we walked into Manhattan from the hotel across Brooklyn bridge or used the numerous metro stations. There were many places to eat close to the hotel.
One of the best walks is to do the High line which starts at The Standard Hotel. The Downtown bus tour is also excellent and you can hop on and off at your leisure to see many of the best spots. Would definitely recommend hiring bikes and cruising round Central Park. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge just to turn round and walk back to catch great views of the NY skyline.
Walk everywhere, especially at night! The is an evening aura at the Upper West Side, Highline Park, Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty.
