Commercial Street is the heartbeat of Provincetown, the shops, restaurants, and just sitting on a bench in front of the Town Hall is something you have to do. You would be amazed at the people you meet.
Fun shopping, but you could get killed as a pedestrian, not only by careless drivers on their mobile phones, but townies on their bikes, and people walking dogs and pushing strollers on the narrow street.
Take your time and walk from end to the other.there are some typical tourist stores but many unique shops. Scout out the specials in each restaurant as you are walking to help make your decision where to eat.
Narrow one way street, no parking, mostly pedestrian and bicycle traffic...I parked my car at Macmillan Pier and walked up and down Commercial Street, or there is a bike rental place not to far away if you are in the area. Many interesting shops and lots of choices in restaurants. Great entertainment. Dog friendly, bring your pet into shops, outside dining and even on the whale watch boat if you think he can take it.
Very colorful atmosphere with a diverse crowd. We were there during Carneval so it was very crowed.. Dress very casually. Mostly shorts and tee shirts. Bring an umbrella because it can rain unexpectably.
