Be prepared to wait.. In line..for a LONG time. The views at the top are phenomal, it really has a beautiful city scape view, but we spent hours queuing here and it is very badly organised.. There were two queue lines, but everyone queued on one side only as there was no one available to tell us where to go.. Then folks from the very back of the queue decided to go into the other queue line, and skipped past all of us who had been waiting for hours. Very unfair but no-one was on hand to organise the crowd
My maternal grandfather and grand uncle were two Irish workers who helped to build this historic building. I am extremely proud of them for their contribution in helping to build an iconic building. Buy a New York Visitor card - it saves you a lot of money and also you can beat the queues too.
Visited the 86th floor . The view of the city from there was amazing. The visit to the top of a sky scraper can transcend our perspective about the city . It certainly offers an opportunity to see our society more collectively .
Paid for the vip tickets here and it’s the first time I have felt like a vip. Skipped hours of queues. We were escorted straight past all lines, they even stopped people to let us past and made sure we got straight in the lift to the top. Can take hours to get in so if your time conscious book the vip tickets.
On the two visits I've made at different times of the year, summer and winter, early morning or late afternoon seemed to have less queues. However while there was interesting photographic display of the building's evolution it is limited what it offers to the visitor.
We visited Empire State Building on a sunny day and the views were fantastic. We then did the Rockefeller Center at night for a complete contrast of views with the whole city lit up - great views again!
We love this hotel. This was our second time staying here in as many years. The location is our favourite, almost across the road from Bryant Park and minutes to Broadway. Our room had a view of both the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. Compared to many New York hotel rooms the room was spacious and comfortable for a family of 3 (teenage children). We will return and recommend without any hesitation.
We stayed on the 19th floor and had an AMAZING view over the Empire State Building and the city. We didn't even shut the blinds because it was just too good, both day and night. We we're here during Covid so we didn't get the chance to visit the terrace nor try the breakfast or any other of the hotel facilities, so I can't really give a review there. The location was great and the stay great.
I booked The New Yorker for my wife's birthday for 5 nights, the hotel is very well situated in Manhattan for the subway, Madison Sq Garden, Broadway and Times Square, we could see the Empire State Building from our room. If you are planning a trip and want a central location, the New Yorker fits the bill, it is a little more expensive than other hotels but worth the extra for the location alone.
Location in short walking distance to the main NY attractions like Empire State Building and Times Square. Very clean bathroom, which is always important. Receptionists are welcoming and ready to assist when required, of cause with all current precautions and protection measures. It is good that hotel maintain all required safety measures to protect guests from current risks. Breakfast provided in bag.
The hotel staff were extremely exceptional hosts in every way. The hotels' location is ideal for sight seeing, just a few minutes from the subway . Our room was exceptional, complete with a skyline view of the Empire State Building. The Grand Central station is a few minutes walk away, where you can buy a Metro ticket to all of New York's wonderful attractions . 10/10
Our room had a superb view over NYC. From our bed we could see the Empire State Building and many of the famous buildings. The hotel and rooms were very nicely decorated and it seemed to be all new. Very clean and modern. The hotel is located very close to a subway stop where several lines go from. Journey to JFK was therefore very easy, too.
the room is excellent, the place was very good and with excellent view from the window of the empire state building. We really did enjoy very well our stay in the hotel
Good hotel for a couple of days in New York. Slippers, bathrobes. Good view of Empire State Building.
The Empire State Building gives you an amazing view of the city's night skyline. I will recommend the Top of the Rock for the view of the city's day skyline - you'll be able to get a picture of the Empire State Building from here.
Get tickets for Empire State in advance to fast track for tickets.
Top off the Rock. Means you can actually view the Empire State building, plus enjoy a cocktail or two if it is raining!
If you want to avoid the crowds then I suggest going very early or late. My best suggestion is to do the Empire State Building at night. I went at 11.30 and didn't wait in line at all!! It's also open til 2am.
Check if you can book in advance. The best thing we found was booking a time slot early in the day (at Rockefella and 9/11 Memorial) and returning later in the day after experiencing places where you didn't have to queue (Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge). This meant we didn't waste half our day queueing for an attraction (queues for Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building were horrendous and did not offer the option to book a time).
We went to the 'Top Of The Rock' (Rockerfeller center) which gave an outstanding view, the main view was of the Empire State building but you could see for miles!
