Hire one of those little yellow three wheeler cars. The best way to see San Francisco. Good fun and comes with a talking GPS that tells you all you need to know on the way. And you get to drive down Lombard street without having to wait. Awesome experience.
Great views of the city from streets to the North and South. Less tourists to spoil the view. Walk down, not up. Walk down the right side to get better photos if visiting early in the day, that way the sun will not be in your lens.
Honestly, if you do not have a drone and a camera, you will not be able to see it as shown in many internet photos. However, it is a nice place to drop by and just watch how cars go down this incredible street.
Easy walk if you are in a hotel in the Fiherman's Wharf area. If you use a ho/ho tour bus don't bother using that to get here for you can waste time waiting for buses. Also visit Lombard early then walk downhill to Ghiradelhi for a chocolate experience for the children (and self) but many of the products are cheaper away from Ghiradelhi.
Like any street in San Francisco, it's steep, but its fun, so much to see. The crowds watching the cars come down are something to see. When you get to the top you can grab a cable car in Hyde St or just keep walking down to California St and back up to Nob Hill. Or head down Hyde St to the Bay.
Walk it and take in the homes and gardens lining the street. (from top to bottom recommended) Find the San Francisco Institute of Art nearby on 800 Chestnut St and take in more spectacular views form outside plaza areas.
Marina Motel is an excellent location for Presidio, Marina, and the Golden Gate bridge. If parks are your thing, then definitely stay here. Chestnut Street, which runs parallel to the Lombard Street, is lively, and you are going to find everything you need, including groceries, cafes, restaurants, bars, movie theater, banks, etc. All within a block or so.
The location is great, very short distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, to Lombard Street. The room was okay, the shower was dripping in my bathroom what was not fixed during my stay. Breakfast was very limited (croissant, muffin and coffee), but there are plenty of places around to get some great breafast.
Muffins, cereal, toast, fruits, yoghurts and coffee for breakfast set us up for our days. Although a little further out than some hotels the little walk down to Fishermans Wharf didnt bother us as we loved exploring, oh and it was close to Lombard Street which was fab!!
The hotel is located on the Lombard street, which is quite handy if you are into living close to the sea and piers life. There is a good free parking at the property if you are travelling by car. There are quite a few bars in the vicinity of the hotel.
The location was perfect to get to all the sight seeing spots - including Lombard Street, Pier 33 for Alcatraz, Chinatown and Fisherman’s Wharf. If you intend to be out of your hotel all the time, then this hotel may work for you.
Location location location !! This hotel has a fantastic location, nearby the Piers, next to Lombard street, hundred meters away from cable car terminus. Parking is free, which is an amazing plus in San Francisco !
Great location for Fishermans wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, Long walls are in both directions and the Chevron gas station nearby is ideal for late night supplies and early morning coffee
The Hotel is perfectly located for Fisherman's Warf and Lombard street, we always felt safe even after dark. The rooms are dated but functional and service and breakfast is great.
Free parking, close to the downtown, Lombard Street and Fisherman Wharf. We went there all by walk.
