My comments are only negative because everything got shut down and our trips were all cancelled due to Coronavirus so everywhere was either shut or empty. Just bad timing but lucky to have survived the experience.
WOW!!!! Times Square is definitely one of those must see places in New York!! And that is any time of the day!! But it is most spectacular at night....the lights, the people, the atmosphere...the place is a buzz ALL THE TIME!! I highly recomend a visit to Times Square for any traveller.
If you attending a count down you need to bring adult nappies. Toilet is not accessible. Once you In that's it, if you going out there is no way you can back in. Backpacks, ambarella etc.. you cant take it inside. Overall visits my family enjoyed our stay except the countdown very unorganised.
Always something going on, day or night. Behind the Ruby steps is a ticket booth selling discount theatre tickets, however it pays to contact the theatres direct if you can as quite often when buying from them they can be cheaper!
It's big. It's loud. Best to experience this from the safety of the top of a tour bus. Too many people working the crowds and too easy to become separated from your family or your money in this place.
Worth seeing - especially at night. Watch out for the costumed characters (Spider-Man, Captain America, Minnie Mouse etc) offering to have their photos taken with you (particularly if you have children). They surround you, use your phone to take a picture but then demand a tip for it. We saw lots of people fall into this trap and come away with a sad look from this unpleasant experience.
The property is perfectly located for first time visitors to New York being just off Times Square. Personally I didn't find it too noisy, but I do wear ear plugs to sleep, so I had no issue at all. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, it had a sofa and dining table, so was perfect for my travelling companion and I. It was clean, comfortable and serviced every day. The Staff were very friendly from reception to the cleaning and maintenance staff that we came across.
Oh my god! We had an executive room on the 26 fllor with amazing view toward the Times Square. the hotel is perfectly clean, staff is nice, breakfast is really good - jus t expect the breakfast restaurant to be busy, very busy. We also had access to a small executive lounge 24/7, with free consumption of wine, sandwiches, snacks, cookis, coffee, soda. It was such a pleasure to be there. We will definitley come back to Riu when we are in New York. Truly recommended!
Very good location. Close to many attractions. Underground station Times Square and bus terminal Port Authority in 500 meters of hotel. Very good communication with all pats of New York and other cities. Clean and quiet room. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. We’ve chosen this hotel second time and would like to return back there again. Very comfort room temperature was in summer and in winter.
I booked The New Yorker for my wife's birthday for 5 nights, the hotel is very well situated in Manhattan for the subway, Madison Sq Garden, Broadway and Times Square, we could see the Empire State Building from our room. If you are planning a trip and want a central location, the New Yorker fits the bill, it is a little more expensive than other hotels but worth the extra for the location alone.
This hotel is in an amazing area of New York, not far from times square, so many shops and eating places near by, loved the room we stayed in, very clean, had all the things we needed. The room even had a microwave which was extremely convenient. I just wish i spent more time at this property. Also the staff tried their best to accomodate my request which was good.
Second stay in this hotel and again it was absolutely brilliant! Fantastic location, just round the corner from Times Square. Room was spotless and bed extremely comfy. Staff are always on hand and are always very helpful and approachable. The rooftop bar was amazing. Would always stay here when visiting New York and would definitely recommend to others.
Great concept and I'm shocked it's not more popular in New York. Tiny but affordable hotel room in great area, walking distance from Times Square/Broadway, Grand Central Station and some of the city's most famous landmarks. Helpful staff. Citibike rack directly opposite the hotel, excellent 24/7 diner on Lexington half a block away.
Perfect New York stay. Away from the hustle of Times Square but easily reachable with the train stopping right outside hotel. Stayed plenty of times around Times Square but after staying her next time I visit will defiantly stay in the area again. Fantastic hotel with free cookies in the afternoon and boiled sweets all day
Breakfast was delicious, hotel is meat-free so as a vegan i really appreciate it. Location great, subway stations everywhere, but i just walked 20 minutes from Times Square.
Choose a substantial section of the city, say Lower Manhattan, plot the sights you wish to see on a map so that you do not have to retrace your steps, take public transit to your starting point and begin your exploration. We started at the 9/11 Memorial and worked our way north, including City Hall, the Merchant's House, Chinatown, the Bowery, Washington Square, the White Horse Tavern, the High Line and the Garment District. Of course, there were all kinds of surprises, which added to the experience. We began at 10 am and were back at our Times Square hotel by 4 pm.
The Broadway experience is such a classic part of going to New York. The standard of performance is so high, and the atmosphere as you spill out towards Times Square afterwards is unforgettable.
Well, They're iconic! Statue of Liberty, Empire State, Top of The Rock, Times Square are things you must visit who you're there!
There are so many historical sights and architecture to see and behold. You can walk the stretch of Broadway and Times Square and you'll see many attractions already.
Times Square is very busy as are most of the main tourist attractions, but the hop on hop off busses are great or if you don't mind walking choose another street other than broadway and it is far easier to walk down
Visit the city during the week. You could visit locations without being mobbed. Times Square on the weekend (first weekend in June) was a zoo - too crowded.
