We avoided the tunnels and military museum etc as didn't want to visit such places with our children. Instead we did the Independence Palace and loved it. A great insight into Vietnamese history and architecturally what an amazing building. However, none of the locals we spoke to recommended it - they all recommended the typical war sites. We would go back here again just to walk the building, grounds and admire the 1950s furniture.
