The plantation-style cottages are equipped with a flat-screen TV, mini-bar, coffee-tea maker and a sit-out overlooking the mountains. En suite bathrooms include hot/cold shower facilities and luxurious bathroom amenities. We had a mountain view cottage. Great view, nice and big room, hygienic, with a terrace to read a book. Some pictures on the site dont do justice to the surrounding garden. Very nice place with minimum number of cottages, privacy and mire personal touch is assured in this way. We booked some activities via the hotel and they made sure we could organize two activities in a day, they arranged driver etc We were a bit late at the breakfast table and had to leave early for the activity. The staff was very professional and made sure breakfast was served at higher pace without getting us stressed and discretely. Massage and ayurvedic treatment were in a nice and relaxing setting in a building next to the pool. The food in the hotel restaurant was great, for breakast, diner, but even for a simple snack they delivered something very tasty and special. Special mention of the staff which was very friendly and professional and because the number of cottages is limited, all staff knows which room you are in or what is activities you have done without asking..gives a very personalized feeling. We would surely return!
Resembling a traditional tribal village, Spice Village offers thatched-roof cottages with a minibar. The property houses an outdoor pool, tennis court and skilled Ayurvedic doctors.
The restaurant serves Kerala cuisine, heavily flavoured by local spices. The chef can also prepare traditional tribal curries and Western dishes. Food was excellent, Particularly the Chicken gravy cooked with coconut milk was too good..the place is also notable for birding..kudooz to the entire team. Special mention about Nisha in Reception and Balu and Mr Girish for their interest in showing the birds inside the property, particularly a Jungle Owlet which is a resident of spice village..

The excitement of going up the small lanes in the mountains ,wondering what we would find? We were not dissapointed! What views! The rooms were so spacious and so charming in their decor. Like being in our own luxurious tree house bungalows! Bright and almost english cottage style! Fantastic place for a fantastic price! Great staff who were very friendly and excellent service. Great fresh cooked food, excellent tastes and variety. Lovely breakfast each day with fresh fruit every morning and choice of what you would like...indian, pancakes, eggs...great choices. Hills and Hues is an excellent quiet piece of paradise to stay and could just happily sit on our balconies looking at those amazing views for hours! Thankyou so much for this stay.

The hotel has newspapers and a fax machine and photocopier that guests can use. From walking into the hotel reception, the luxuriousness of the hotel greets you. The ambiance of the hotel is wonderful throughout, from your very large luxurious comfortable suite, which carries on down into Drizzle Restaurant. The staff are very obliging and helpful, plus they definitely go that extra mile to ensure your stay with them is perfect and nothing is too much trouble. The buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of variation and the dinner in the evening was excellent with plenty of selection off the menu for all tastes. All in all, it was definitely the best hotel we stayed in on our 3 week holiday in Kerala and can certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone, plus it far exceeded our expectations.

Overall ambiance of the place being in a spice garden and close to Thekkady attractions. Staff were extremely good and proactive and the room was quite spacious for 3 people. Finally excellent food - the chef catered to some dishes we suggested for the breakfast menu and we were very grateful for this. We could pre-order dinner which was very convenient and saved lot of time.

Nazeer is an excellent host who speaks great English - we saw wild elephants on the 16k hike through the park which was fantastic but be warned the first 3k felt like they were straight up. Kumily is a small town & totally safe to walk the side streets at night. Would recommend for the average traveler just don’t expect Hilton perfection - it’s the people that make this town Vaughan
