The hop on hop off bus tour is a must The place is very clean in general Like most cities there is homelessness but although upsetting to see it did not impact on our trip The catalonians are extremely friendly and speak good English
Barcelona is my favourite place in the world and I have no problem admitted my bias. I've been back 7 times, this time I was in the middle of a trip through Eastern Europe, the cold weather got too much for me so I took a detour to Catalonia. The vibe of the city is so laid back for such a busy and business heavy city. You'll never be bored, I speculate it would be impossible to see everything. But you'll encounter endless famous sites, architecture, markets and foods, shopping and street performers just by walking around the city. La Rambla, Placa de Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter are the main areas of interest, getting lost in the Gothic Quarter is a good way to find nice cafes and food - though as with any city, the further from the centre the lower the price. A trip to Montserrat is also worth it for a little hike and gorgeous views back towards the city. Barcelona also gives the chance to watch one of the worlds best sporting teams, as well as celebrate in any number of Spanish holidays throughout the year. It is Elysium to me.
Weather was nice for early March and plenty of places to visit and explore - circuit Catalonia F1 - Camp Nou - Montserrat - Sagrada familia - Beaches And many more
Fascinating city. Loads to see & do with great food & drink. Hop on hop off buses a great way to see a lot of the sights. Make time in your itinerary to just sit in a park, square, or bar to just watch the world. Cabs very reasonable price & most drivers have a grasp of English. National gallery of art & museum of catalonia brilliant. Practically every little bar & restaurant excellent. Try & eat local dishes as they are so good. Restaurants are fine with lone diners & don't push you to the worst tables. Park guell has long queues to get in & really needs to sort out better ladies facilities so don't miss out on using them.
We had been before so we planned to avoid the busiest attractions. We came in April so the weather wasn't too hot for walking about. We spent one day on the beach, one on Montjuic, an evening in Poble Sec All easy to get to from our neighbourhood - the Raval - so much to see there too- modern and Catalonian art and hidden gems of Gaudi and other architects. Our favourite bar was Muy Buen for modernista style,Catalan food and brilliant cocktail bar staff
I knew almost nothing about the city other than having been aware that it had hosted the summer Olympics. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty, cleanliness, history and climate. A great vacation destination that I would recommend highly to anyone visiting Catalonia.
Lovely Catalonia style resort not built up, if you want to know how the locals holiday it is a must, near enough to Barcelona to get the bus or train in. Best of both. Loved it.
Badalona is not one of the greatest cities in Catalonia but it has its charm. The Badalona Ramblas offer a nice walk flanked with not too many nice terraces and a view of the sea while "Carrer Del Mar" with its shops can be a very positive experience for the casual shopper. In summer the beach is strip is long, clean and pleasant. There are also a few restaurants that are worth visiting. If not happy with Badalona, a taxi, train, bus or the tube can take you to Barcelona in no time.
Loved Casa Batlló. Park Güell and La Rambla . Beautiful city with some much to see. The Segrada Familia is stunning. There is so much more that we would like to have seen and will certainly go back. There is good food to be had a the Brasserie across the road from Catalonia La Pedrera. Also a great Italian restaurant not far away called Pizeria Eden
I have been visiting Roses for the last 35 years. The beaches are now fabulous the overall the place is beautiful. My family spend many years at the Marina Hotel. We went into the bar to meet my Sister who lives in Catalonia. It was 9.30 in the evening. 6 of us asked for a drink and 2 wanted a cold Sandwich. We were greeted by a sullen rude waitress who informed us the kitchen was closed and we close at 10.00 what is going on with Catalonia and Rosas, it’s a holiday resort with Tourists..... won’t be back to Marina otherwise I love Rosas.
Castelldefels
very nice hotel.......the view from the room is breathtaking.....the room itself is quite comfy and big with separate kitchen and huge terrace ......the bed and the pillows were also very comfortable.....the bus to Barcelona is literally 5 mints walk and it comes every 15 minuets and it takes 35 mints to reach plaza Catalonia......I stayed in another 2 hotels during my trip and paid more than this one and those 2 are not even close to compare though they were inside the city of Barcelona.....will highly recommend
I have stayed at hotel 139 many times the location is perfect for the beach area and there is many buses to central casteldefells and the train station to take you to barcelona or other places the price is ok but casteldefells is expensive so expect to pay more than the norm hotel 139 is 1 star but very clean very very friendly especially julio who i regard as a friend it is a perfect base to explore catalonia and you can be in barcelona within 35 mins by train
Modern, clean hotel with professional staff. Great location 2 blocks from beach, with cafes and shops in close vicinity. Excellent shower water-pressure. Good continental breakfast with eggs, bacon, croissants, cereals, yogurt, fruit, sliced meats & cheeses, Catalonian specialty coffee 8:30-10am. #301, 303, 305 rooms include small balcony with partial ocean views.
The hotel was closing because of Covid19, so they offer us an upgrade to the hotel catalonia plaza Catalunya for the same price, which gave us another upgrade for a room with pool vue and balcony for free. The hotel is really great, and very well located. and the spa was really amazing. I am more than satisfied and will come back.
The room was comfortable and central located we walked from the Figueres train station. Salvador Dali museum is a stone throw away. and fort is worth a visit. explore the narrow street of the main square you will find many lovely coffee bars and tapas. we found if you try to speak Spanish ,Catalonian or French it helps
Calella
Clean and nice apartments with well equipped kitchen and a big fridge. The bathroom is very nice as well. Private parking places available. Helpful and friendly staff. The location is quite convenient to travel along Catalonia - a lot of places to visit within an hour and a half drive. Stayed there for a second time.
Covid prevention measures were taken, and very well: social distancing in every area, the staff wears face masks, no crowding, limited capacity in dining rooms, ski tracks and transportation...). All the staff in the building was also very friendly, and the room was warm and very clean. The views from the room were very nice as well. I also liked that the place is accessible with public transport. The zipper train trip has very nice views too.
Beautiful view from room 14 , stunning.
The apartments are comfortable, equipped with basic things that you may need during a few days stay. Our had even washing machine. There was a nice terrace with table and chairs (and place to dry your cloths). Kitchen was equipped with basic utilities that allow you to prepare and serve food. The bedroom was comfortable. We asked for a crib as we travelled with a one-year-old and we got the crib, high chair and baby bath tube, all very useful.
The location is great and it is easy for to get to any places. The staff are very helpful and make me feel so comfortable as the first visitor in Barcelona.
Everything was great. Beautiful area and property. Breakfast and dinner awesome. People all exceptional , friendly and helpful.
Amazing pool area. Perfect for a dip or some drinks. The bed was huge and very comfy. It's an excellent location with lots around and right next to the Metro.
Actually I did really enjoy my stay in the hotel. Clean, friendly with a nice roof view. Not far away from the city center (about a couple of stations by metro). But I had a little issue in the moment of the arrival. In that time the taxis didn't work due to the strike. And I called the hotel about 3 times to get the information about the problem and about the way I could get to the hotel from the airport (I had a really late flight). I informed them that my plan arrives at midnight and I don't know how much time it will take me to get to the hotel by public transport and that I will come really late (the taxis blocked some roads and the taxi service didn't work, most of the buses changed their routs etc). Finally my friends met me in the airport and we had to change 3 buses and had a really long walk to get to the hotel. At 4am I received a message from booking.com that the hotel cancelled my stay. We called the hotel and the administrator was talking to us in a very rude way, it offended us a lot. More than that I was surprised that I called the hotel so many times before the arrival to confirm my stay and I was so much worried about the situation with the taxis and they didn't even call me to know if I am okay at 4am. They just didn't care, they just cancelled my stay. Thanks God they could make the reservation one again and I could enjoy my stay. And the rest of the things in the hotel was great! But you should carry more about your guests especially about women arriving by night in the middle of the "taxi war" of some kind of another strike. And you should speak to your administrator who worked on that day and give him the instructions how to not to be so rude.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable
The location is wonderful, what a view!! The room (even without a terrace) was great! And the breakfast was excellent! Would come back in a heart beat!
The interiors are amazing Very beautiful lobby area with so many option to entertain. The room are spacious and very beautifully decorated with very good storage space. The food is so delicious, best breakfast buffet. The staff is very friendly and helpful Overall excellent experience and would highly recommend it to my friends
Always a good stay at this hotel. Lovely swimming pool. Excellent restaurant. Good value.
Very nice, clean and large rooms. Perfect panorama view. Staff excellent, helpful and similes. Yusuf was one of the best!!!
The location was absolutely incredible - a beautiful rocky beach which was never crowded and a hotel surrounded by olive trees. We really enjoyed our spacious bungalow, the food in the restaurant, the massages and the lovely beach bar where we loved sitting out at night with a cocktail. Can't wait to come back!
The staff and the stay was WONDERFUL.
