About Liverpool

Including tips for the best time to visit Liverpool

Liverpool is a city of rapid growth, with an infectious enthusiasm for pop culture.

Formerly one of the UK’s most important trade and migration ports, the city's focal point is the old docks. Here, the contemporary Museum of Liverpool traces the city’s roots, while the Tate Liverpool gallery showcases modern art from across the globe. The Royal Albert Dock is known for its Liverpool ONE shopping centre and being the home of the Beatles Story museum. You can learn all about Liverpool’s most treasured musical quartet here, or take a magical mystery tour of all the places associated with the fab four. From childhood homes and schools to Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, the city centre is full of sites that inspired some of their most memorable songs. And if that’s not enough, you could watch a band play at the legendary Cavern Club, where The Beatles often performed before they were famous.

For many, Liverpool is not only synonymous with music but also football. If you can find tickets, be sure to catch a game at Anfield – home to Liverpool FC – or failing that, take a tour of the club’s museum to learn about its historic achievements.

You could spend eight days a week here, as The Beatles say, and still find plenty of things to do and attractions to see, but a short break is all it takes to get a good grasp on this vibrant city.

Friendly people!

Friendly people! Always someone willing to help with directions, the people on my Beatles tour were fabulous, people in clubs happily singing along with performers it’s a lively town a pleasure to visit. We ate at a Chinese place in Chinatown good food. We grabbed breakfast buns and coffee and watched the Mersey on a bench. We ate at Madre at Albert Dock it reminded me of home/ Texas 🥲 Mostly I was choked up knowing that this was where members of the Beatles walked and lived their daily lives. Hearing their music while in their hometown would be extra special for any Beatles fan. Beautiful stay can’t wait to come again

Mowgli restaurant on Water Street as good an Indian culinary experience as I've had in years. Central Liverpool is easy to walk around and teeming with a terrific variety of restaurants, stylish cocktail bars and hidden, out of the way pubs. The city is full of beautiful old buildings all leading down to a majestic waterfront.

Great city! Fabulous shops, bars & restaurants. Went solely for the Beatles experience, Magical Mystery Tour, Beatles Tour & Cavern a must see! Hard Days Night Hotel is perfectly located for centre of town & attractions but parking is down at Q Park near Pier Head, a 10 min walk away. Blakes Restaurant at the hotel very good & RJB Restaurant excellent!
