About Warsaw

Including tips for the best time to visit Warsaw

The story of Warsaw’s past is told though its architecture, from restored Gothic buildings to steel-and-glass high-rise buidlings. Take the Royal Castle, a stately building that served as a royal residence for around 300 years before being completely destroyed in WW2 – or the Palace of Culture and Science, a giant structure dating back to Poland’s Soviet-influenced era. Still Poland’s tallest building today, the latter contains theatres, bars, museums and a viewing terrace on its 30th floor.

This complex story further unfolds in museums across the city. The Warsaw Rising Museum, for instance, traces the history of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 via interactive displays, photographs and film archives.

However, Warsaw is every bit the modern European capital, with gorgeous green spaces like Lazienki Park, and a mix of high-calibre Polish and fusion restaurants, cosy bars and galleries in its beautifully restored old town. Take a guided tour of Old Praga to discover its hidden gems – and when night falls, take a wander around or head out to Mazowiecka Street to experience the best of Warsaw’s nightlife and entertainment.

4th time to Warsaw uber taxis very reasonable, so easy to get around. People very friendly most in Warsaw speak English. Food is awesome. Lots to see and do . Old town good for all kinds of restaurants, little bit more expensive than other parts of town

The food in any cafe or restaurant was really good.

The food in any cafe or restaurant was really good. Did not use public transport, so do not have an experience. We rented the hotel close to center, in a walking distance. Polish people speak only polish! That is not easy.. King's castle a great place to visit though for I have no idea why - the first time we were there were open many rooms for visit, the next time only half of them. A huge disappointment.

Warsaw is a perfect place for those who want to feel the big city - although the city is not so big as Los Angeles or New York City, it still is a very vibrant place with many things to do and many sights to see! If you're going with your own car to Warsaw - please use Waze, as the lanes and the traffic can be intense at some times. If you're going out to some restaurants, you can really try seeing which places are recommended by TripAdvisor or maybe seeing some places in Google reviews. Warsaw has many parks and other places to see, so any place you choose - you will find something that you like!

Beautiful city.

Beautiful city. Lots to see and do. Great for kids. But very big city and travelling on foot as we did takes up a long part of the day as i was with kids and it was warm. Looking into public transport would seem like a wise thing to have done in hindsight.

I enjoyed the many food options, both Polish and American. I loved the open arms culture and the car scene. It felt comfortable, I recommend Warsaw as a first time European location as it offers a good portion of English speakers and food delivery and Uber rides.

The Old City is worth seeing.

The Old City is worth seeing.Take a short tour with Warsaw City Tours lasting 3 hours, Great way to see the major sites by car and it saves the feet. You also have a short walk through a beautiful park, and you can feed the squirrels and sparrows. The guide is very knowledgeable.
