About New York

Including tips for the best time to visit New York

New York City is somewhere that feels familiar before you even visit. Countless films and TV shows are shot here, so when we see the trademark yellow taxi cabs, the hot dog vendors or the dazzling lights of Manhattan, there's a strange sense of déjà vu. It's also home to what is arguably the world's most famous skyline, dominated by the Art Deco marvel of the Empire State Building. Constantly reinventing and setting new trends in fashion, food and art, the city is also a major hub for finance and trade, with the famous Wall Street at its core.

The city is split into the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island, and each has its own unique character. Manhattan Island is home to the trendy neighbourhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo, while Brooklyn features a Botanic Garden, the New York Aquarium and the famous Coney Island. A ferry from Battery Park to Ellis Island offers a great opportunity for some incredible views of the city, before reaching the fascinating Immigration Museum. You'll also sail past the iconic Statue of Liberty, with plenty of time to snap photos from all angles.

The city's Broadway shows are second to none, with a variety of major musicals proving the pick of the bunch. The giant green oasis of Central Park offers a perfect spot for a peaceful stroll, as well as featuring lakes, theatres and ice-skating rinks.

New York is served by three major airports: JFK, Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia, with public transport options available at each one.

Great restaurants, great night life (depends on the area you stay), big city so you'll have to be in shape or take the public transportation or being rich and go with Uber/taxi, very expansive, great parks and museums (you can spent at least half a day in every museum and park - metropolitan and the City public library in brayent park ), very easy to travel and navigate Go to summit one Vanderbilt - new exciting view point There is everything - search online or ask people on stores and in restaurants for what you seek and have a great city adventure

20 May 2022

The main spots to visit in New York are its museums and Broadway shows. Besides this, New York has attractions you can find anywhere else, but with something special there. The building are huge; there are unique places to eat (like Eataly); some streets are nice to walk (like SoHo). The public transportation system works flawless. Metro and bus are enough to reach any part of Manhattan and its surroundings. Always check for events ocurring during the week (e.g. Time Out tips).

19 May 2022

I was born & rise in NYC left because of too many crack users in my project outside the hall as well everywhere you went I thought it was time to leave with my family for a better life no regret, now I go to visit my family don't like staying with them because they worrying about me everytime I leave their place. But NYC is really worse now during the day is ok but once it gets dark watch where you go don't feel that you're safe cause you're not.!!!

There are no words.

18 May 2022

There are no words. This experience should be on everyone's bucket list. But leave plenty of time. There are lots of wonderful things to do, activities to attend, tours, and food of all makes and kinds. Joe's Pizza and street vendors are a must. We walked or took public transportation. Don't recommend driving.

17 May 2022

A few of the highlights were: eating at Grimbaldi's in Brooklyn, walking across Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan, bike riding in Central Park, and going to the theater. There are lots of different neighborhoods to explore that I would like to do in the future. We used the subway and it was pretty easy - just download the app so you have the maps at your fingertips and be aware of people in the subway posing as MTA employees to help you buy a fare card.
